Your Voice: McNerey dedicated to helping homeowners

EDITOR,

The citizens of Mountain House, who were deeply saddened by the skyrocketing foreclosure rate in their municipality, joined together and formed an association. They turned to Rep. Jerry McNerney for help, and he delivered. The congressman and his very professional staff created at least two workshops to give aid to homeowners. Banks and mortgage companies attended.

I know from personal experience regarding this workshop and letters written to the comptroller of the currency who has oversight over banks, that McNerney has been a loyal friend and supporter of people in fiscal peril.

He never stopped to ask whether that constituent was a Democrat or Republican.

There are incredible demands on a representative’s time, especially those on the West Coast who fly back and forth to Washington, D.C., through three time zones. The congressman and his staff consistently gave their time to help those who needed it.

McNerney never tried to advertise this fact. As I am privy to the information, I’d like to take this opportunity to let readers know about his concern and involvement.

TomBenigno,

So, congress got us into this mess, but we can't support our police and fire? If that's the case I think we need to elect a new congressman instead?

"it is my vote not yours."

Yes it is... and I observed you spent it poorly by now asking a cause of the problem (McNerney) for help

"The thing you need to understand Mr. Spam..."

An example of spam Tom,

Understand yer frustration here an ya probably didn't intend it but yer takin a poke at th wrong people with yer "Fish-wrapping journalism" comment.

This piece is just a letter th Press printed. They didn't write it, some citizen like yerself did.

It's OK ta have a different opinion an ta even express it but ya should direct yer negativity ta th person who wrote th letter an not at those who simply published it.

An while I don't agree with th letter writer I do agree with TP's printin of it. I don't think th Press should censor th things they don't agree with do you? Didn't thank so.

This kind of fish-wrapping journalism makes me sick. I will stoop to the same level.

When has McNerney ever dedicated anything other than Nancy P?

I feel that Democrats have asked the banks to stop foreclosing, until November.

The banks are more than happy to oblige, because they know if the Tea Party movement gets going there's going to finally be "change".

The banks know that the word "change" meant nothing last time around and they want to keep it that way.

I'm done now, but it had to be said.

Surprized ya folks didn't hop on th obvious problems with this letter an comment on them.

First, "There are incredible demands on a representative’s time, especially those on the West Coast who fly back and forth to Washington, D.C., through three time zones."

Comment: Perhaps th "represenative" could better use thair time instead of flyin back an forth ta Washington D.C. through three time zones every week at taxpayer's expense on military aircraft or first class private accomodations at a cost of over $100,000 per trip an use that time ta read th bills they are votin on an takin approprate action by representin th will of th people that elected em instead of just wastin tall that "time" jauntin around th country.

Second, "McNerney never tried to advertise this fact."

Comment: When yer supposed ta be helpin yer constituants with all these workshops ta help em an don't advertise yer doin it, how are they gonna larn ya got somethang out thair ta help em? Advertisement, is really lettin em know thair's help available. If ya don't advertise it then yer just puttin up a smoke screen so later ya can point ta th program an say, "See, I tried ta help ya but ya didn't show up fer th help." If ya don't know th help's available th outcome of no help at all is still th same.

Instead of his phoney town hall meetins, which cost money ta set up even though they are basically a sham, perhaps if that money had been redirected ta advertise th workshops th writer is talkin about would have done more good.

Nope, not buyin th "didnt ask if they were Republican or Democrat" cow flop either. But that was covered with th sly usage of th word "constituent." If ya voted fer him yer his constituent. If ya didn't yer not. So th outcome us still th same.

Sides, Mountain House ain't th only people in his district, what about those in Tracy? Guess they don't count fer much in our congressman's eyes.

http://www.factcheck.org/2010/09/did-the-stimulus-create-jobs/

Using the uppermost figure of 3.3 million jobs "saved" or "created" from the fact check site and after running up almost $2 trillion of debt to create "those" jobs in 2 and a half years comes to (someone check my math) over $180,000/job/year. Average pay in the U.S. is about $47,000/yr...

Factcheck stated, "Simply put, more people would be unemployed if not for the stimulus bill. The exact number of jobs created and saved is difficult to estimate, but nonpartisan economists say there’s no doubt that the number is positive."

Using the same logic we could have put almost 4 times as many people to work if we had paid 3.3 million people an average wage. Logic failed.

If we do not believe jobs were "saved" or "created," the waste is incomprehensible.

doors17,

The problem is that we reward these executives for sending jobs out of the country.

They are looking for "low hanging fruit".

Sending jobs out of the country costs less because of the regulations here in California.

So, they look for the easiest way to save thier company money.

Our Congressmen set us up for failure.

Those managers are a symptom, not the root cause.

(although, I do agree with you, it ain't good 4 us)

System, I don’t disagree with what you said. I’ve been working for the same software company since 1988, and while they haven’t outsourced any jobs to China, they have to Mexico, India, Ireland and the Philippines. Each with disastrous results for our company, that we as employees pay the price for in more layoffs which gives us a heavier workload and only one raise in the past four years. The VP’s who engineered these moves are always rewarded for their failure with a golden parachute and soon take a position with a competitor. I may be bias in saying this, but I really do believe this bonus mentality that upper management has today is the main culprit in what’s wrong today.

doors17,

The stimulus created jobs in China, when they bailed out Hummer and sold it. If you look around, instead of listening to bean counters, you will clearly see there are more companies still going out of business.

Some of the jobs we've created are foreign bank executives.

I personally, know unemployed bankers in America.

ChetW,

How on earth do you figure he's doing a good job? I didn't even know we had a congressman representing our district during the healthcare mess. Someone said he had a phoney meeting. And if he is supposed to be representing us in DC, I'm not aware of any bills to improve our lives. Can someone explain what they mean by "find job".

I notice that ChetW repeats himself all the time and I think I can explain what he is doing here.

I know people that "work hard" cutting grass all day, but you have to remind them not to hit the sprinklers every single time.

That's not hard work. That's repeating the same mistakes.

Work smarter. If Harmer can work smarter than that I will consider putting him to work, with my vote.

McNerney's votes and laws PUT people into fiscal peril, not save them from it.

McNerney voted YES on the $787 Billion "Stimulus" bill, that has failed to create jobs or boost the economy. Unemployment is still near 10% after all that spending. Fail!

McNerney voted YES on "TARP" (troubled assets relief program). TARP has clearly failed in its attempt to channel mortgage relief funds to troubled homeowners. Only $386 billion of the original $700 billion authorized by the TARP was distributed to help the economy. The second $750 billion authorized was never touched. Foreclosure rates are still breaking records. Fail!

McNerney voted YES on the "Cap and Trade" bill. Cloaked in the junk science based Global Warming scam, this bill raises taxes on people and businesses. It is an economy and job killer. If passed into law, the cost of energy (your PG&E bill) will skyrocket and businesses paying higher energy bills will pass that along to you. Fail!

McNerney voted YES on "Obamacare". 22 states are suing the federal government to repeal this nightmare law. The downsides to this are too numerous to list. Fail!

Is McNerney a friend to those in fiscal peril? I think not.

I'm voting for David Harmer.

Again you find our fine Congressman hard at work for us in District 11. Jerry McNerney is strongly supported for his work helping everyone during these very hard times. His is also helping lead us out of the Great Bush Recession and we again have a growing economy. It would be growing faster if the GOPers would not be trying to prevent America from getting back to work. We do not need any additional GOP reps to continue harming America. We need to keep Jerry Mcnerney working hard for us all.
