Patricia “Lindy” Linforth Spieker of Atherton and Joel Louis Hopman of Santa Clara will marry June 25, 2011, in Atherton.

Joel proposed to Lindy over lunch at a park in Santa Clara, followed by an evening in Half Moon Bay. The following day, the two celebrated with their immediate families in Aptos.

Lindy graduated from Castilleja High School in Palo Alto in 1999. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley, in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in American studies. She works for Cornish and Carey Commercial Real Estate.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Tod and Cathy Spieker of Atherton and granddaughter of the late Warren and June Spieker of Atherton and Patricia Miligan and the late James Reilly of Piedmont. She is the sister of Tod Spieker Jr. of Menlo Park and Meg Thomas of Los Angeles.

Joel graduated from Tracy High School in 1997. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2002 and is pursuing a master’s of business administration at Santa Clara University. He works for Lockheed Martin Corp.

The groom-to-be is the son of Bill and Debbi Hopman of Tracy and the grandson of Betty and the late Allen Simon of San Francisco and the late George and Sue Hopman of Daly City. His brother is David Hopman of Santa Clara.

The couple plans to honeymoon in the Mediterranean and will visit Italy, Greece, Croatia and Spain.
