Tracy 1, St. Mary’s 0
Tracy High’s soccer team opened its season with a last minute win Friday in Stockton over St. Mary’s.
The game went scoreless through the first and second half, and with less than a minute on the clock Eric Bui made a shot on a pass from Shane Morris. St. Mary’s didn’t have time to get near the Tracy goal, and it starts Tracy off at 1-0 for the 2010 season.
The freshman-sophomore team is also 1-0 to start the year with a 7-3 win over the Rams. Alejandro Noriega made four goals, Cristian Ramos score two and Derek Paris scored one.
Alumni 7, Varsity 1
Veterans of the Tracy High soccer program made their annual appearance Saturday against this year’s varsity team, outscoring the varsity 7-1. It’s an informal game that coach Phil Kalis uses as a scrimmage to see how well this year’s team stacks up against its predecessors. Kalis said the alumni that this year’s varsity went up against was especially tough, considering that most have graduated within the past few years and were on playoff-caliber teams. The alumni team included players who gained top all-league and MVP honors during their time at Tracy High.
