A proposal to turn over management of the county library system to a private company could see the Tracy and Mountain House open more hours.

According to documents submitted by Library Systems & Services Inc. to San Joaquin County and released Friday, Aug. 13, the Tracy Branch Library would add eight hours a week and would be open seven days a week instead of six.

Mountain House’s library would gain 21 hours per week and would be open five days a week, as opposed to the current three.

LSSI was the lone company seeking to manage the local library system, which is a joint partnership between San Joaquin County and the city of Stockton.

For more of this story, see Friday’s print edition of the Tracy Press.

Does anyone else find it hilarious that the TP not only didn't research the actual hours the library is open, but 1 month ago they actually WROTE a story about how Mountain House is open 7 days a week. And there is a link posted at the bottom of this one? Good journalism TP! ;-P

MH library is already at seven days a week. If Tracy could be open on Fridays that would be great. My question would about donations to the library of cash or books. Would they still be tax deductible?

Who wrote this article? Apparently they didn't do a single bit of research. MH Library is already open 7 days a week.

Just check the library website:

http://www.stockton.lib.ca.us/mountainhouse/

Sun, Fri, Sat Noon - 5PM

Mon 10AM - 3PM

Tues, Thurs 2 - 7PM

Wed 1 - 6PM

Now if this change affects that, then that's a story. Otherwise, you need to get the facts straight before you publish.
