The Tracy High School Class of 2014 took their first steps at Tracy High as they went through the freshman orientation program with the Link Crew this morning.

The Link Crew pairs the 525 incoming freshman with juniors and seniors who will help them through the first year at Tracy High. The orientation had the Link Crew members talk with the freshmen to answer questions and get to know each other.

The freshmen could not get tours of the campus because of the ongoing construction but were given tips on getting around from the Link Crew.

After the orientation, the freshman registered for their classes, while the senior class went earlier in the day. School for all Tracy Unified School District students begins Aug. 11.

You know, it is really sad to read an article that is so positive and read comments that are so negative. I understand that you are upset that kids cut in line, but why do you have to comment about your experience at registration with this article? You complain that students cut in line, yet you do not give proper accolades to high school students who volunteered their time to help the incoming freshmen. The students who are involved in the link crew program get NOTHING for it. They do it because they care for their school and they are amazing kids.

I am sorry that you get the brunt of my frustration, but I am so sick of people just complaining about high school kids. There are so many more good than there are bad. Over 100 link crew leaders show that!!

Maybe you saw my child. My child came home from registration and laughed and told me they cut in line several times. I was sooo mad = that called for punishment. Kids are stupid and don't think. I'm sorry to hear that you saw parents defending their kids. It is definitley unacceptable behavior. I hope my kid learned their lesson. I apologize to you and everyone for my kids poor behavior.
