The newest McDonald’s opened earlier this week in southern Tracy, and so far, business at the eatery has been booming.

Manager Carl Austin said customers have flocked to the restaurant at the southeast corner of Tracy Boulevard and Valpico Road. Since the store officially opened Tuesday, July 6, visitors have consistently told him the same thing: that the McDonald’s is a welcome addition to the area.

“It’s been outstanding,” Austin said of the turnout so far. “I think the neighborhood’s wanted this.”

The McDonald’s is decorated in a distinctly modern theme, with clean lines and soft colors. There’s also a planted patio area that supplements the eatery’s 72-person capacity.

Austin said the other McDonald’s restaurants in Tracy — which he also manages — have recently undergone renovations. A resident of Tracy since 1972 and an employee in the company for 37 years, Austin said he and the other 68 full- and part-time workers at the new McDonald’s aim to integrate into the neighborhood and city.

“We basically just want to be part of the community,” he said.

South Tracy REALLY needs a convenience store. Especially South of Schulte. I'm sure one could make a killing.

I got sick from Boston Market when it first opened. It was located where Hollywood Video "was," in the Tracy Marketplace near the intersection of 11th Street and Corral Hollow Road.

Boston Market

The one in Lodi closed.

The one in Tracy closed too! Anyone remember that? Bonus points if you can name it's location.

I think quite a few people got sick after eating there, and business dwindled.

They don't have any of those restaurants because you have to have people with money to have restaurants like that.

People in Tracy don't have money or don't have a lot of it. They would rather shop at walmart, eat at mc donanalds, and put rims on their car / lift their pick up truck, rather than make smart health choices.

It appears the only one making anything ($) out of this is the manager, Carl Austin. With another McD's under his belt his salary has to have gone up...unless he owns all 3 franchises. Hey, he'll still be the only one making anything!

Luv2000,

Yogurt Mill

We have an ice cream store across the street from the new McDonalds.

Togo's

There is a Subway too.

Red Robin

I think we used to have a Checkers or Chubbys where the Roasted Bean used to be, but I could be wrong.

Elephant Bar

That one would be nice some day.

Mimi's Cafe

That might be nice too, but I'd prefer the Rising Loafer.

Marie Calendars

We have the Orchard and Perkos.

Boston Market

The one in Lodi closed.

Red Lobster

I got sick there once and won't comment other than to say that others may like it.

Trader Joes

They said they were looking at locations, but there are not enough people living in Tracy.

I heard one location was across from Perkos, which is kind of like the Tracy Rancher's version of Marie Callendars. If you ask me.

We already have 3 other Mc Donalds in town and a Walgreens. How about some stores and restaurants we have to to drive out if Tracy to get to?

Example we drive to Modesto for the following

Yogurt Mill

Togo's

Red Robin

Elephant Bar

Mimi's Cafe

Marie Calendars

Boston Market

Red Lobster

Trader Joes

That is just me and my family I am sure there are others and obviously more places but you get the idea.

We also had 360* Burrito it turned into another place so we would drive to Livermore that one closed and now you have to drive to San Ramon to find one. We have done that once.

To keep Tracy growing and thriving we need variety and good products. Building and opening what we already have I feel is not the answer.

Also @vincentmartinez200 I would hope it was clean it just opened. Best service in town? As stated before it just opened give it time attitudes always come from time to time when dealing with the public. How many of us go to get a bite to eat for the "Cute Managers"?...come on really????

JimF01: So, how long have you owned the teriaki restaurant next to Save Mart?

Bit of a shame really that McDonald's gets free advertising in the TP (or was it free?) and Tracy residents are struggling in this economy, small businesses that could use similar publicity.

There is a new Teriyaki place by SaveMart on 11th, good food, very clean. Everyone should try it. You all already know what McD's tastes like

@ChrisRoberts: What were you thinking they were going to put on a plot of land zoned for commercial use?

@Jp009: Maybe the government should do the grocery shopping for us too, eh Comrade?

Also, congrats to another small business owner that is creating jobs here in Tracy. Folks like you help grow this economy!

Too bad the Dems are going to let the tax cuts expire and that ObamaCare is going to add additional burdens on you.

I am very pleased with this McDonald. The service is the best in town and it is definetly the cleanest McDonalds in town. I dont know why other people blame them for being fat. LOL. Folks, McDonalds dont put a gun to your head and say eat. Its an awsome place to take the kids and eat. Just remember that too much of a good thing is bad for anyone. And they have cute managers.

ChrisRoberts - The city does not choose the locations of the schools. The State of California does that. Hope that helps!

Not to mention the obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and adult-onset diabetes this new McDonald's is also bringing to Tracy. Good luck, folks.

I live right near this place and I am not pleased with all the new development going on here. They build this walgreens when there is a rite aid down the street and a mc donalds when 80% of the strip mall where Raleys is sits empty with no stores comming soon.

Never mind the fact that I know have to wait several minutes just to have the luxury of pulling out of my neighborhood, heaven forbid, I have somewhere to be.

Now sycamore and valpico need a traffic light!

Its just like when they built that new high school right on lamers, the back road everyone likes to take to the freeway to work.

The people who run this city just allow things to get built in the most insane and illogical places possible.

Its no wonder this town has gone down hill in the decade plus I have lived here....a lot of the same bozo's are still running the show....
