Two people died early Monday morning in a head-on crash on Interstate 580 south of Tracy.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a 34-year-old Tracy man was driving a 2000 Toyota Tundra on westbound Interstate 580 just west of Bird Road at about 2:55 a.m. At the same time, a 30-year-old Tracy woman was driving her 2004 Dodge Caravan, heading east in the westbound lanes, and the two vehicles collided head-on.

Both people died at the scene. There were no other people involved, according to the CHP. The westbound lanes were closed for about three hours.

CHP spokesman Bob Rickman said the crash is still under investigation, and it’s unclear how the woman ended up heading east in the westbound lane. A family member identified the woman as Christina Trevino, mother of four, from Tracy. The man’s name was not available.

To donovan2 THE SAME WAY, THE SAME WAY, First of all how do I know she was not under the influence. She is a family member, so you do not know the facts of what happen and we do. People can say whatever they wish to say and it is to bad that most people just jump to conclusion but that is life. Sorry for your lost and I hope people did not jump to conclusion for you when you lost your family members.

Prayers for those whose lives were cut short so tragically and for those left behind. We may never know WHY it happened, so instead of speculating, it might be nice to hear a little compassion from those of you who think you know all the answers. Seems to me that would be the RIGHT thing to do under these circumstances.

First of all, if you have nothing better to do but talk about people that have passed away so suddenly then you need to get a life. You have no clue what happened that night so keep your ignorant comments to yourself. For those that are talking about maybe she was under the influence maybe you are under something right now because obviously your parents didn't bring you up the right way. It was an accident plain and simple that took the lives of two people not just one. Please keep your comments to yourself and leave our family alone.

to-> Johnney007= How do you know she was not under the influence of something? Where you in the car? Also, at 2:55am what was she doing with 4 kids at home? It is a tragedy, but probably something that could have been prevented, now she didn't only die herself, but took someone elses life along with it. I also had someone taken in my family the same way, and if was due to carelessness or selfishness of a mother who should have known better than to drive in a condition that would cause such a tragedy and end up leaving 4 children without their mother, and a family grieving for losing such a young woman.

My heart goes out to the four children who lost their mother in the car accident!

Two families are in great deal of pain, my thoughts and prayers are with them.

This tragedy involved more than the two victims. It involved both families to include mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters. Lets be cautious when commenting on fault or guessing what happened. Let the investigation determine what happened. As tragic as the circumstances are to accept, let the investigators find out what happened. Pray for both families and their families. God Bless those who lost their lives that early morning and the families that were impacted by that event.

Well this women was not drunk or stoned or on any kind of dope. What happened to her many people have this problem today. People should be very careful when commenting because not knowing the facts can hurt other people. Most people drive this same road and you never know when something like this could happen to you or a family member or a close friend

So sad this happened. I can't believe someone was going the wrong way on the interstate. Especially since every reflector would be shinning red at you as your lights passed over it. Surely this would have been a sign to the driver that something was odd. And being from Tracy, you'd think she would have known this road. So sad.

I don't drive after dark, period. Especially at 3:00am. Too many people out there driving drunk late at night or stoned on dope or nodding off from exhaustion. It's easy to become disoriented at night epecially if you're wearing eyeglasses.
