On June 13, nearly 150 people celebrated a milestone of the Tracy Coalition to Assist the Homeless — the group’s 100th person placed in a house or apartment.

The coalition was founded more than a year ago to help get services and resources to the area’s homeless, and it recently began finding housing for some of its clients.

Coalition co-directors Marvin Rothschild and Sue Langdon spoke about the group’s mission and future goals at the event, where they also thanked De Vinci’s Deli, Gerard’s Deli, El Castillo, Sunset Liquors, the Academy of Performing Arts, Save Mart Supermarkets, Raley’s, Walmart, Vita Dulce, Borges Towing and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels for “their outstanding service to the Tracy homeless community.”

Coalition member Kathy Goddard was also singled out for special recognition. In addition to providing free hot meals to local homeless people twice a week, Goddard also has given away clothing and bicycles to those in need.

Members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church catered the gathering.
