A caller reported at 2:43 p.m. Saturday, June 12, that she was carjacked while she was waiting for her daughter outside Barnes & Noble in the West Valley Mall. She said there were two men, and one had a stocking cap on and held a gun in his pants, though he didn’t pull it out.

She said that the pair took the car, a dark gray 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche, toward the International House of Pancakes.

Tracy police alerted various state and local law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the car and suspects.

Police received 427 calls for service between Friday, June 11, and Sunday, June 13. The following is a sample of those calls:

Sunday

12:08 a.m.: A caller on the 1800 block of Chester Drive asked for police to check the house, which had its back door open and alarm turned off. The caller’s “male half” called 9-1-1 an hour later because he was upset that the police had still not arrived. Police checked the house and found it safe about 10 minutes later.

1:29 a.m.: Police cited juveniles and released them to their guardians after they were found in a car with alcoholic beverages outside Costa Park, 1441 Claremont Drive.

1:59 a.m.: A driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on the 500 block of Emerson Avenue.

3:59 a.m.: Police arrested a man on suspicion of drunken driving after stopping him at Ace Hardware, 2695 Tracy Blvd.

11:03 a.m.: A caller from Youngplay Memories, 104 W. 10th St., called and reported that someone “keeps calling and making threats.”

3:13 p.m.: A juvenile who ran away from the Sierra House, 245 W. Whittier Ave., was committed to mental health services after he was found at West Valley Bowl, 2365 East St.

4:43 p.m.: A teenage boy was caught after allegedly shoplifting from JCPenney, 3100 Naglee Road.

7:22 p.m.: A woman at Olive Garden, 3140 Naglee Road, called to report that her daughter saw a woman working at a restaurant who three days earlier “brandished a knife” at the daughter while driving on the freeway. The worker admitted to waving the knife, but the daughter didn’t want anything else done.

9:46 p.m.: A caller on the 400 block of Quail Run Circle said that he found a footprint on his front door, as if someone had tried to kick it open.

Saturday

12:44 a.m.: A homeowner agreed to shut down a loud party on the 600 block of Mount Diablo Avenue after a caller complained.

1:46 a.m.: A man called from the 2200 block of Mits Way to report that his 17-year-old son was visiting a friend’s house but wasn’t answering his phone, and that his son is “usually home by now.” He gave police a description of his son, and said that it was unlike his son to do this. The man called back about 10 minutes later to report that his son was upstairs asleep.

3:47 a.m.: Police were called for a possible “home invasion” robbery on the 2400 block of South Bird Road. A caller said that three men with guns were inside the house, but when police arrived the subjects were gone and the home was unoccupied.

10:44 a.m.: Bank account fraud was reported by a caller on the 1400 block of Heatherfield Court.

12:16 p.m.: A caller reported that a woman in a T-shirt and blue jeans was beating a 3-year-old next to the Tracy Superior Court, 475 E. 10th St.

1:23 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a driver who shredded her tire by continuing to drive after she smashed into the median near 11th Street and Lincoln Boulevard. Police found no evidence suggesting the driver was drunk after catching up to her at Speedee Oil Change, 711 W. Grant Line Road, and gave her a ride home.

6:46 p.m.: Police were called out because of loud music being played inside a house on the 2900 block of Fairfield Drive. After issuing a warning, police returned to the house at 8:44 p.m. after multiple callers said the people in the house turned the music back up even louder as soon as police left. Police warned the homeowner.

9:33 p.m.: An arrest was made following a family argument on the 600 block of Sequoia Boulevard.

Friday

9:28 a.m.: Police counseled two people on the 100 block of South Third Street who reported getting numerous phone calls and messages about a car trade they were involved with.

2:09 p.m.: An ongoing problem with graffiti was reported at Greenoaks Mobile Home Park, 2929 N. MacArthur Drive.

2:54 p.m.: A caller at Stone Pine Apartments, 229 W. Grand Line Road, said an 11-year-old boy was chasing a small girl with a knife. Police talked to the children involved, determined that “both parties” brandished knives, and discussed the incident with the children’s parents.

4:43 p.m.: A Queensland dog was impounded at the animal shelter after it was found wandering in the street on the 900 block of West Lowell Avenue.

6:43 p.m.: Police received multiple calls from a juvenile on the 600 block of Pombo Square Drive who said that his aunt was denying him food and abusing him. The boy later admitted to making false reports, while police determined that there was no abuse and that the boy was making marks on himself to try and “cause legal trouble for (his) aunt and be placed back in foster care.”

8:27 p.m.: A man who had “just got out of jail today” and had been in an argument with his girlfriend, according to the man’s father, was taken to Sutter Tracy Community Hospital after having been found lying on the bathroom floor of a house on the 1200 block of Palomino Drive because of a heroin overdose.

This column includes a sampling of items as reported in the Tracy Police Department dispatcher’s daily log. Additional information is based on reports from officers and other law enforcement agencies. To report information anonymously about a crime: Crime Stoppers, 831-6847.

4:43 p.m.: A Queensland dog was impounded at the animal shelter after it was found wandering in the street on the 900 block of West Lowell Avenue.

Dog (looking a little thirsty): G'day, mite!

Officer (wearing an important looking badge, I guess): I will have to take you in.

Dog: Upon whose authority, and for what offense, pray tell, Officer Blah?

Officer: rMine, and for impersonating the mayor. You see, dog, I've noticed you drooling, taking a crap on the flower bed, dry humping that poodle on Mrs. Tight Ass's front yard and peeing on my leg.

Dog: Crikers! (As he's getting cuffed...) I hope that you have a humane environment for illegals like me! I demand a trial! I demand counsel! I demand free wine and two blankets!

Officer: Sorry, friend. It's a three day kill facility.

Dog: Nooo way, mite! No way! Get me a lawyer! Get me an owner! Get me out of Tracy!

See what happens when you get laid off? You have nothing to do but this sh**.

Fairly certain that it was not a gun and thank goodness he didn't pull it out.

Employees suggested that although, "when your here you're treated like family," moreover possessing particular dicing skills means your best bet maybe Benni Hanna's.

Gee, I thought the only reason that mall business is dying is because we don't have a Macy's. Perhaps no one wants to be the latest victim to car theft, car jacking, violence?

This happened in the middle of the day right in front of Barnes & Noble. The human garbage of Tracy have no fear or respect for the law.

City council? Mayor? Police Chief? Crack down on these thugs or you will be out of a job.
