Millennium announces standouts for spring

Millennium High had five girls make the Harvest Christian League first team for the 2010 soccer season.

Elyssa Perales, Ebonie Barnie, Salina Elias, Briana Murawski and Yasmeen Mohammadi all made the first team. Barnie was the Falcons’ goal leader for the season with 11 goals. Mohammadi had eight goals and 10 assists; Perales had four goals, 10 assists and 82 steals; Elias had six goals, eight assists and 62 steals; and Murawski had 158 saves as goalie and seven shutout games.

The HCL second team included Katie Lee and Ariana Aini, and Valeria Salamanca received an honorable mention. HCL coach of the year was Millennium’s Aryel Saldate.

The Falcons (9-4-3 overall, 8-0-1 HCL) won the league championship and then lost in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII playoffs.

Softball

From the Falcon softball team, juniors Kelsea Eakin and Nicole Ochoa and senior Jaelyn Woods made the first team. Eakin batted .535 for the season, Ochoa batted .521 and Woods batted .484.

Woods was also chosen as the first Millennium girl to play in the High School All-Star Softball Classic, which will be Friday, June 18, at the University of the Pacific in Stockton.

The HCL second team includes Jaylyn Guiterrez and Melissa Vierra, and Paige Fernandez received an honorable mention. The league’s softball coach of the year is Millennium’s Sam Haines Jr.

The Falcons (17-9-1, 10-2 MVL-HCL) took second place in the combined Mountain Valley-Harvest Christian league, right after the league champions from Elliott Christian of Lodi, and reached the semifinals of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII playoffs.
