EDITOR,

Here we go again with our City Council, which is so out of touch with reality, is arrogant, and totally brain-dead. They want to pass a parcel tax and keep the emergency services fee — what next, you wear a yellow Star of David so you can travel in Tracy and pay a travel tax?

That is why I will remember in November and vote out the whole rotten lot that sits on our City Council. Vote in people who know what it is to work for a living. The council blames the taxpayer and property owner for this mess, when it falls directly in their laps. We did not give fire, police and city workers wages and benefits of that of a Fortune 100 company. They did this to buy the support of the fire, police and city employees unions — talk about special interests.

Join me in November. Vote out the evil rat pack and put honest and professional human beings in those chairs to run our city, before it goes bankrupt.

Hay Al!

Splain something to me about why you write the police and fire are bought and paid for.

Why is it that I know so many fire and police officers who live in Tracy and work in the Bay Area where they make more money?

Did Tom put you up to that?

I hope the voters realize they carry the responsibility of forming the future agenda by voting. Too often they ride on the promises of the candidates, not doing any homework on them.

If you are unhappy with any elected officials, my first question would be, "how well do you know the candidate and his/her records"..

If you didn't know, then you, alone, own the complaint which was born of lazy voting. Take the blinders off and look at their voting records, their contributions, projects done during their term and so on... Do yourself a favor, be more informed and you will be glad for having done your homework on each candidate. THEN, you got every right to complain if one steps out of line.

Vote for one "as if" you are inducting them into your family circle, after all, they will affect you, too.

CN and Good luck!

voters tend to be apathetic.

not until we hurt do we become informed and act.

We are hurting.

A complete revamping is in order.

Churchill's salary is a joke on Tracy denizens.

The City Council can't see the forest for the trees.

I voted for Adhikari the last time around.

Hopefully he will not give up on Tracy and will run again.

Realism is in order.

Al Galaviz here, your comments prove my point, (Where do we live)

Let us have Tracy give itself back to the county, it would be a inprovment, why would I run for a city position because Tracy is DOA and a no horse town. There is no future in this loser of a town. Chapter 7 here we come, lets see what the Unions do with their contracrs, when a City Chapter 13 notice is given to them in place of their contracts. Enjoy the Tracy Press while you can.

Yes Police, Fire and Public Works employees do have special interest status. They all belong to unions and their unions endorse candidates for council and mayor. These groups do so in order to gain influence during contract negotiations. That influence is used to protect them from arbitrary actions by out of control city managers and department managers who don't like them and are always trying to cut their wages and benefits.

Usually these city managers and department heads try to cut employee wages and benefits because all they care about is making themselves look good so they can get that next big job that pays more. This is so the city managers can earn more money and have better benefits and the department managers can hopefully become city managers someday.

The problem is those at the top in city government are only looking out for themselves and they don't really care about the citizens they work for. The employees are trying to protect themselves from the managers so they don't have time to care and the citizens get the raw end of the deal.

That's why we need to revamp the entire system, cut government waste and clean up city hall.

Well he got one thang right when he wrote, The council blames the taxpayer and property owner for this mess . . ."

Council didn't elect itself, th taxpayin property owners did, along with th majority of th rest of those who live here in Tracy.

If yer gonna point th finger of blame, go look in th mirror an point at that person.

If we elected em an they screwed up, th fault lays with us, not them. We decided poorly. Let's decide wisely next time.

But when ya can simply buy th vote like Whitman an Poisner are tryin ta do, yer not decidin wisely.

City Council really ain't all that much difference when ya listen ta what ya want ta hear an fail ta look at thair trackrecords.

Fire, Police, and City employee unions are Special Interest????????? Al, those contracts are negociated. So Al, an example, your in the lawnmowing business and Tom only pays you $10 to mow his yard, but Bill pays you $15 for the same size yard. What yard would you rather mow?

I hope to see your name on the next ballot, I'd like to read your platform.........for the entertainment value of course.
