Mitchell Barron, 22, was arrested by the Hayward Police Department on suspicion of homicide at about 3 a.m. this morning and taken to the Tracy Police Department for questioning, according to a press release from Tracy police Sgt. Luis Mejia. Through investigation, Tracy police officers found that Mitchell allegedly stabbed his father, 42-year-old Jose Barron, as they were returning home after work, but no reason has been determined.
At 11:17 p.m. Friday, police received a call about a stabbing on the 1700 block of Thicket Court. Before officers arrived, officials from Sutter Tracy Community Hospital told police that a trauma victim, a man, had arrived at the hospital in a private car.
Barron was pronounced dead not long after he arrived at the hospital.
The investigation is still ongoing, and Mitchell is set to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. June 2 in Manteca.
This is the first homicide for the city of Tracy in 2010.
