Tracy Sister City Association president Bob Elliott entered the race for the Tracy City Council when he launched his campaign at a Thursday night event in downtown Tracy.

Elliott has been a resident of Tracy for six years and is a program manager with Westinghouse Electric Company in the nuclear energy business. He is a veteran of the United States Army, serving for 30 years and retiring as a colonel for the Army Special Forces.

He is married to his wife, Debbie, and has three daughters. He was the second candidate to formally announce his intention to run for office, following Juana Dement’s announcement. He’s joined by pastor and JP Morgan employee Nancy Young, home inspector Larry Hite and Southside activist Larry Gamino.

Mr. Elliott has a website where he outlines his position on a number of tough issues.

My husband is a VietVet and knows Elliott has a well funded campaign as well as some local heavy hitters helping his run for council. He has a paid consultant as well. Good luck Mr. Elliott.

And what are Mr. Elliott's position on the issues facing Tracy? How does he feel about raising our taxes? What kind of spending cuts does he endorse? What are his ideas to attract more businesses to Tracy (not just retail)? What will he do about the crime/gang problem?

The "news story" is of no value without some additional information about WHY Mr. Elliott is running. Was it too much effort for the reporter to get this additional info?

Best of luck to you Mr. Elliott. I'm certain you'll do well.
