In two years as a varsity player, Diaz has taken on pitching, catching and infield duties as needed. This year, he was part of the regular pitching rotation and went 4-1 in league games with 17 strikeouts.
He is also one of the Bulldogs’ power hitters, with a .514 batting average, 23 runs batted in, two home runs and a slugging percentage of .865 in league play.
Diaz shares MVP honors with Joey Armstrong of Lodi, who was second in the league in batting average, .583, behind Tracy’s Kyle Moses, .600.
Moses was a SJAA first-team infield selection, as was Jacob Valdez, who had 23 RBIs and a .537 batting average.
Outfielder first-team selections from Tracy were Brandon Jossey, who led the SJAA with five home runs and 25 RBIs and batted .425; and Tanner Turner, who had two home runs, 12 RBIs and batted .415.
Second-team selections from Tracy were outfielder Andy Levand and infielders Jake Shull and Dominic D’Souza, and honorable mentions went to Tyler Trew, James Fisher and Alex Flores. Softball
Tracy High’s softball team is represented on the SJAA all-league list by senior Stephanie Fisher. She was named Most Valuable Offensive Player for the league after finishing the season with a .581 batting average in league play and a .903 slugging percentage.
Overall MVP honors went to Alexis Macias of Bear Creek. Tori Shepard of Lodi was named Most Valuable Pitcher, and Kortney Solis of Lodi earned the honor of Most Valuable Defensive Player.
First-team selections from Tracy were Christine Lozano, who led the league with 11 RBIs and batted .484; and Latoya Whiten, who batted .329. Second-team players were Taylor Martinez and Rebecca Titus.
