I knew of a woman in SoCal who was chased out of a clothing store into a crowded parking lot. She was shoplifting, and she clearly panicked and was literally chased out of the store, whereupon she was struck by a driver and later died of the injuries.
Naturally, the family of this fallen angel sued the security guard, his company, and the store. The family was represented by an elderly attorney who had never done this type of work in the past. His lack of experience, various tactical ploys, a judge's Very Important Vacation, and attorneys who listened carefully to the chit-chatting jurors in a crowded elevator nearly led to a verdict in the woman's favor. This thing was heading toward Internet Fame, and personally, since I hate most corporations, I was on the side of the deceased.
Six months later, a hung jury resulted in a non-verdict. My point is this, fellow Tracyites: don't bother chasing our fellow citizens out the door. The minor amount of satisfaction that it will get you is simply not worth it. Eventually this type of misbehavior catches up with them, and trust me, the legal fees alone make it worth your while to merely grin and take it.
And so down that road we go...yippity skippity.
- Geez, Jarod. You just can't stop yourself!
