The two will be honored at Millennium High School’s graduation Saturday, the culmination of four years of hard work.
Ives, who spent a good chunk of her time volunteering at the Tracy Branch Library, and Brindopke, who played basketball and ran cross country for the Falcons, agree that giving back to the city they live in is vital.
Brindopke also helps out with cleaning up around Tracy and pitches in at Rotary Club dinners. Ives logged 200 hours of community service, she said.
“It’s important, because you’ve got to be able to want to improve where you’re living and give back,” Brindopke said. “If everyone gave back, it would just continually be getting better.”
Both students received armfuls of awards and recognitions at a Millennium year-end ceremony last week, with Brindopke named athlete of the year and Ives receiving the class award for economics. Both also earned an award from the U.S. Air Force for their achievements in mathematics and science.
Ives and Brindopke said their studies at Millennium have left them more than ready to take on college. Ives will study at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa in Orange County, and Brindopke will attend the University of Southern California.
“I feel I’m more prepared for college and the real adult world,” Ives said. Meet Frederick Brindopke
