He said he had just parked in his driveway and was about to unlock his front door when the guys approached him, and “pushed something” against him, though he was unsure if it was a knife or a gun, or something else.
The same suspects were involved in the theft of a stolen car at 10:40 p.m. on the 3000 block of West Grant Line Road, police said.
Police later arrested three kids in San Ramon after a brief pursuit, and booked them into Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall.
He said the men both wore hooded sweatshirts and he never got a good look at their faces. They drove off toward 11th Street.
The Tracy Police Department received 187 calls for service on Thursday. The following is a sample of those calls.
12:17 a.m.: A caller reported a student at West High School, 1775 W. Lowell Ave., wrote a note to her parents saying she “was leaving with a boy.”
12:44 a.m.: Police arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of trespassing after a caller from the Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd., reported he was outside the emergency room and refused to leave.
1:32 p.m.: A woman on the 400 block of West 20th Street reported her husband was drunk and “won’t leave her alone.” After he was “bothering the kids who are trying to sleep,” she said she took her four kids and left.
8:34 p.m.: Police went to the Willow Community Day School, 2628 N. Tracy Blvd., on a report of drug violations.
9:18 a.m.: A white Honda Civic with tinted windows was stolen from the 100 block of Nabor Court “sometime after midnight,” a caller reported.
9:32 a.m.: A caller on the 800 block of Darby Drive reported a woman “keeps calling and making threats to slaughter” the caller “for going out with her boyfriend.” Police said there no phone calls, but a “vague” threat on a MySpace page. The caller was told to tell the woman she wanted no further contact.
10:04 a.m.: Police arrested 29-year-old man, a 41-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man on warrants and on suspicion of driving a stolen pickup at Lincoln Boulevard and Grant Line Road.
1:09 p.m.: A caller on the 1100 block of Vallerand Road reported a 17- or-18-year-old guy came looking for her niece. Instead of leaving, though, he went into the caller’s backyard. Police told the person to “move along.”
3:05 p.m.: A caller asked to talk to an officer about a confrontation he had “with a flag person doing road work” at 11th Street and Chrisman Road.
3:42 p.m.: Police arrested, cited and released someone on a warrant at Tracy High School, 315 E. 11th St., after a caller reported a “disturbance.”
5:20 p.m.: A caller reported a granddaughter and her friend were near a park on Golden Leaf Lane when a “schoolmate” shot at them with a BB gun “15 or 20” times. A “friend’s brother” shot one girl “in the stomach several times” with an Airsoft gun. The shooter told an officer he shot her “because he does not like her,” and “because he was playing around.” The shooter also told an officer “he had a bad day at school.” The boy’s father said the gun “would be given back to its rightful owner, and the grandmother wanted to press charges.
5:39 p.m.: A caller reported teenagers were writing graffiti on a wall at Grant Line Road and Ohara Drive.
6:30 p.m.: A caller reported three people were spray painting graffiti behind Save Mart, 2005 N. Tracy Blvd. Police cited and released two kids to the custody of a parent or guardian.
6:47 p.m.: A caller reported people inside a “Cutlass or Buick” were smoking drugs at Monticello School, 1001 Cambridge Place. The car was gone when police arrived 19 minutes later.
6:56 p.m.: Police arrested a 59-year-old man on suspicion of public drunkenness after a caller reported a guy fell outside the Grocery Outlet, 825 W. 11th St.
7:32 p.m.: A caller from Quik Stop, 1153 Lincoln Boulevard, reported a 25- or 30-year-old man was “trying to take things without paying.” He ran off, but police detained the guy at gunpoint, and merchandise was returned to the market, though the caller declined to press charges.
10:02 p.m.: A woman on the 900 block of Scarlet Place reported her “estranged husband” was threatening to killer her new boyfriend.
10:18 p.m.: Two guys stole brandy and ran off from Discount Liquor, 2321 N. Tracy Blvd.

Apparently the "men working flag" had rapped around his lapel and covered his head.
