The 24 hour walk-a-thon to raise money for the fight against cancer began with the announcement of Kitty Inouye as the 2010 survivor of the year.
The color purple filled the track as survivors opened the relay with the first lap followed by caregivers.
Teams set up camp on the football field as walkers took turns to the track into the evening.
The night laps featured the candle-lighting ceremony where lanterns in the memory of family and friends lined the track.
The relay ends Sunday morning with closing ceremonies.

Good for you, and I hope that your memories of such wonderful fellowship made it all worthwhile. This son of two cancer patients thanks you.
Scott
I felt that a good news story like this deserved at least one comment, because you know dang well if this were another gang shooting, or if these people were protesting about something political we would have several.
