Crews searched Wednesday afternoon for a maroon sedan that was reported to have driven into the Delta-Mendota Canal sometime Wednesday morning at Grant Line Road near Mountain House.

Crews from Stockton Fire, Alameda County Fire and the Alameda County Sheriff’s office were investigating the scene as they looked for the car and body of the driver.

As of Wednesday evening, no body had been found.

Family members of the victim gathered around what investigators supposed was the crash site on Wednesday afternoon, but no one offered or released the name of the person authorities suspect drowned in the canal.

Those three men in this initial picture are some of the most courageous guys around here. I could not be prouder of them, and I know that I speak for all of us here. Thank you for at least giving it a go.
