Grant Line Road closure

Grant Line Road will be closed between MacArthur Drive and the railroad tracks due to reconstruction from Monday to Friday.

Traffic will be detoured using South MacArthur Drive, Tracy Boulevard and 11th Street.

Haiti fundraiser

The World Mission Church of Christ Holiness USA will host a “To Haiti with Love” 5K Run for Jesus to raise money for Haitian earthquake victims.

Registration for the run begins at 10 a.m. and starts at 11 a.m. today at Lincoln Park, 170 E. Eaton Ave.

The cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt, lunch and post-race entertainment. Money raised will go to buy tents for those displaced by the earthquake.

Another BugFest

The Oak Grove Nature Center’s second BugFest will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Oak Grove Nature Center at Interstate 5 and Eight Mile Road in Stockton.

The event includes bug-themed crafts, kids’ games, live insect races, face painting, raffle prizes, presentations by insect experts and a fly-tying demonstration by Delta Fly Fishers.

The Tracy Breakfast Lions Club will host its 50th anniversary banquet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Tracy Community Center, 950 East St.

Black Oak bus trip

The Tracy Moose Lodge will host a bus trip to Black Oak Casino in Tuolumne today.

A bus will leave at 8 a.m. from the lodge, 35 E. Sixth St., and doughnuts, coffee and water will be supplied on the bus. The cost is $25, and attendees will receive $10 back from the casino upon arrival, plus a $5 coupon for food and a $5 coupon for match play.

Mother’s group Relay fundraisers

Mommy Mothers’ Relay For Life team will have two fundraisers this month.

From the time it opens until closing Monday, people with fliers who dine at Chili’s Bar and Grill, 2030 W. Grant Line Road, will have a portion of the sales of their dinner directed to the Relay For Life team.

Money will also be generated from 5 to 7 p.m. April 24 for those with fliers who dine at the Texas Roadhouse, 2422 Naglee Road.

Meet local author at library

The Tracy Branch Library, 20 E. Eaton Ave., will host a discussion with former Tracy Sgt. Danny Dunne at 5:30 p.m. Monday to talk about his new book, “The Blue Mexican.”

The novel, which Dunne wrote under his baptismal name, Danny Thomas Ruiz, draws from his experiences as a member of the Tracy Police Department from 1966 to 1984.

South Pacific trip

People to People student ambassadors Monique and Jeanette Arrabit, Alyssa Bruederle and Katrina Bruder are selling tickets for meals at the Texas Roadhouse to raise money for their upcoming trip to the South Pacific.
