Crews will continue to tear up Grant Line Road until October, restricting traffic while new water and sewer lines are installed, city officials said.

Dublin-based DeSilva Gates Construction began the $6.7 million road revamp in September, and work continues from about 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

The road is down to one lane of traffic in each direction, which slows travelers down a bit, said assistant city engineer Paul Verma said. All four lanes will open when construction finishes.

The city is resurfacing Grant Line Road from Parker Avenue to MacArthur Drive and also replacing the underground pipes, Verma said.

“It’s a major arterial street, and the infrastructure’s old,” Verma said. “When you reconstruct, it’s best to replace all the underground utilities so you don’t tear up the road over again.”
