The youth baseball season in Tracy opened Saturday as Tracy Little League and Tracy Babe Ruth had ceremonies and then played their first games of the season.

More than 900 youngsters will play in Tracy Little League, including 300 in the T-ball divisions, a Challenger division for disabled children, and, for the first time in many years, a senior division.

Babe Ruth has nearly 800 players ages 4 through 15, with the 7-8 division — in which players get into competitive ball for the first time — the most popular.

Coaches can report scores at www.tracypress.com/pages/submit_scores_new or e-mail tpsports@tracypress.com to be included on the Youth Sports page of the Tracy Press Web site.
