Basketball tryouts

The Nor Cal Outlawz basketball club will have tryouts for the 2010 AAU season this weekend.

Tryouts for high school-age boys and girls will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1635 Chester Drive. There is a $10 registration fee.

Other ages should call to arrange a date and time to meet with coaches and try out for their age levels.

Soccer tryouts

Tracy Crush will have soccer tryouts for the upcoming season from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today and Sunday at Placencia Fields, corner of 11th Street and Corral Hollow Road. The team is open to players born between Aug. 1, 1998, and July 31, 1999.

Mayhem Fastpitch’s 10-and-under softball team will have tryouts at 10 a.m. March 21 and 28 at Mossdale Landing Park, 700 Town Center Drive, in Lathrop. Players should arrive 15 minutes early to sign in. The team plays in two tournaments a month. The team will carry 10 players, and all positions are open.

AASA crab feed

All American Sports Academy will host its fourth annual Crab Feed on March 27 at Portuguese Hall, 430 W. Ninth St., in Tracy. The all-you-can-eat dinner will include “Bachetti Marinated Crab,” tri-tip, pasta and salad. There will be a raffle, live and silent auctions and entertainment by Suga Shane from 95.1 KHOP. Tickets are $40.

WHS baseball tri-tip dinner

The West High Wolf Pack baseball team will host a dinner-dance from 6 p.m. to midnight March 27 at the Masonic Temple, 1601 N. Tracy Blvd. Tickets are $35 per person, which includes a tri-tip dinner and a no-host bar. The event includes a live auction, a silent auction, a raffle and a dessert auction. Money raised will pay for repairs needed to West High’s baseball field and batting cages.

Football officials needed

The Northern California Officials Association South Football Division is recruiting new officials for the 2010 high school football season. No previous officiating experience is needed, and individuals with the dedication, commitment and desire to officiate high school sports are welcome to sign up. Training will begin at the association’s general meeting April 26. Formal training for new officials begins in mid-June and will continue from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday evening until the football season starts in September.

Stadium signs available

West High School’s Athletics Department has space available in Steve Lopez Stadium for businesses that want to buy signs. Different levels of sponsorship are available, depending on size and location of signs, and signs will be visible year-round as many teams in addition to those from West High use the stadium.
