An opening reception for the “California Landscapes” student art show will start at 7 tonight at the Tracy Historical Museum, 1141 Adam St.
The art was created by Hirsch Elementary School fourth-graders, and the show will run at the museum through March 24. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Wednesday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.

VFW invites vets to barbecue
Veterans of Foreign Wars Tracy Post 1537 and its Ladies Auxiliary will host at barbecue from 5 to 7 p.m. today at 1960 N. Tracy Blvd.

Tracy Unified parents invited to kindergarten meeting
Tracy Unified School District’s Play School Readiness Program will host Countdown to Kindergarten meetings Thursday and March 17 at the district office, 1875 W. Lowell Ave.
Parents are invited to learn about registering kindergarten students, the district’s schools and programs and how to prepare kids for school.
Thursday’s meeting will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the March 17 meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Both meetings are free.

Church crab feed
Tracy Community Church is sponsoring an “all-you-can-eat” crab dinner Saturday to raise funds for the His Vision Missions.
Cracked crab, tri-tip steak and salad, catered by Masons’ Falling Off the Bone Catering, will be served at 6 p.m. at Tracy Community Church on Sequoia Boulevard off Alden Glen Drive. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
A no-host soda bar and silent auction will be featured.

Fundraiser for Tracy Free Clinic
Avon sales representatives Alma Maier and her daughter, Megan, will donate 40 percent of their sales of certain products to the Tracy Free Clinic, which provides health care to those in the community who are under- or uninsured.

Orders must be placed by Saturday, but the fundraiser will be ongoing.

The Tracy Republican Women’s Club is accepting applications for its $2,000 scholarship. Any college-bound girl in a Tracy school who hopes to pursue a career in government, public policy or politics is encouraged to pick up an application from a school counselor.

Senior group plans road trip
The Tracy Senior Citizens Travel Group will travel to Hanford to tour the city’s restored historical sites.
The group will get together at 8 a.m. March 31 at Lolly Hansen Senior Center, 375 E. Ninth St. The trip costs $30 per person and doesn’t include meals.

Elks to host veterans dinner
The Tracy Elks Lodge will host its annual Vet Dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. March 20 at the lodge, 6400 W. 11th St.

A raffle and a blind auction will accompany the roast beef dinner. The cost is $15.

Alumni dinner tickets on sale
Tickets are on sale for the Tracy High Alumni Club’s 19th annual asparagus and tri-tip dinner.
