Gold Star Families will host a calendar fundraiser through March 1 to raise money for license plates to recognize fallen military men and women.

The calendars are $25 and depict funerals of military heroes. Names of fallen troops from California are listed in each month.

Gold Star Families are families that have lost loved ones in combat. The group got permission in 2008 to produce the special license plate for parents, grandparents and siblings of fallen soldiers, but it needs to raise $300,000 before production can begin.

Julia Conover, a Tracy mother who lost her son, Brandon Christopher Dewey, in Iraq in 2006, said the group has raised about $25,000 for the license plates so far.

To buy a calendar, send a check to Some Gave It All, P.O. Box 1215, Discovery Bay, CA 94505.
