EDITOR,

I am writing regarding the homeless people of Tracy. Specifically, the gentleman who can be found near the Walmart driveway. He has been at this location for many, many months. Why has the city of Tracy not helped him to find a home?

It is obvious that this gentleman does not have a job, and would benefit from someone helping him get one. With no job, I am sure that he suffers from hunger and poverty. Is it possible that there are programs in the city of Tracy that can help this gentleman find some family members that may be able to assist during his time of need?

Let’s have someone from the city of Tracy stop by and help this homeless person get back on his feet. Not only is helping him the right thing to do, it will also help to clean up the streets of our city.

Why is it the Government that has to be responsible to find this man a place to live? It seems we are pawning everything off to the government and making them responsible for this mans' health and safety.

Your concern is very admirable. Why did you not pick this man up, take him somewhere for a meal and take him to McHenry House, Tracy Interfaith for better clothes and anywhere else where you feel hee needed attention?

Why demand the city do that job? Can't an individual or individual citizens do a far better job than the government?

One look at the social programs the government runs you see highly inefficient stream of confusion at enormous expense to the taxpayers.

Read up on the "Father of Our Constitution" James Madison and his thoughts on goverment prviding charity at the citizens expense! If we had followed his advice, our fellow human beings would be taken care of at NO expense to the taxpayer.

Why put the blame on the government when we can do a better job of it that Father Government can?

If the City gives some of these people a home, they will be back there the next day. What is the problem we are trying to solve?

Not feeling guilty driving past him?

I understand there is a McHenry House, but I would like to know why people feel it is obvious he doesn't have a job? I don't know if he has a job and I'm certain the article was from the heart.

However, the shabbier they dress the more pity people have. And they know it. There are a lot of issues related to homelessness that make it a lot more complicated than just providing a warm home.

Do you think you know homelessness? It's easier to get there than to get outta there.

I hate to say this, but one of the symptoms of drug use is lack of appetite, therefore the loss of weight. It may not apply to him, but to many, so don't confuse it readily to starvation in every case.

Not all are veterans, and they could have sought help or help made available to them by organizations supporting vets. Government,is not doing their full job in caring for the vets.... and homeless people!

Many are homeless from Katrina, and still are, so there's the proof of government at work! Nothing. FEMA was a fiasco!

So depend less on the government that has been bought by special interests and look to your own community to get or give help?

Glad there are concerened people like you, heard the city council is getting tough on these aggressive panhandling people.

Good luck in finding a compromise for these people, there will be more waiting to find themselves in similar situation?

There are many organization in Tracy that would do that. Have you looked at McHenry House, do you think he has not heard of it?

Have you thought, he may want that lifestyle, knowing could rake in as much as 600 dollars a day, with Wal-Mart's heavy customer turnovers?

But then, he may not know of the organization...however, you said he was there for months, wondered if it is the same red bearded guy when I was in Tracy, if so, I had told him about McHenry house after giving him five dollars before his triple "God Bless Yous!"

Might not be a bad idea do have several flyers of each organization that care for homeless so you could pass it out to homeless people? (With printed map?"

Good luck, you sound like you have a great, caring heart!!
