A woman called at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday to report three gunshots were fired through the front window of her home on the 800 block of West Ninth Street.

The suspects fired from a sky blue Chrysler 300 with big chrome wheels, but it turned out they used a BB gun, police said.

The Tracy Police Department received 166 calls for service on Tuesday. The following is a sample of those calls.

6:41 a.m.: A 1992 Nissan Sentra was reported stolen from the 1700 block of Mello Court.

7:24 a.m.: A woman reported her 16-year-old daughter took off “last night” with a man and they checked into the Fairfield Inn, 2410 Naglee Road. The room where the girl stayed was vacant in the morning.

8:19 a.m.: A caller from B and B Tires, 306 W. Sixth St., reported a door was “tampered with,” and said a homeless person who sleeps in abandoned cars tried to get inside a trailer to sleep.

8:29 a.m.: Police went to West High School, 1775 W. Lowell Ave., after a fight was reported. A student on probation was taken to San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall in French Camp.

11:34 a.m.: Vandalism was reported on the 300 block of East Mount Diablo Avenue.

3:12 p.m.: A caller from Walgreen’s, 1830 W. 11th St., reported someone called in a prescription pretending to be from a doctor’s office, and the caller “confirmed Jose does not work there.” Police later questioned two men but made no arrests.

3:30 p.m.: A man said five girls who wanted beat up his daughter followed her home to the 1900 block of Knollcrest Lane, and that one girl said she “had a .22 to finish her off.” Police found no weapon, and two seniors and a sophomore at West High School were given trespassing warnings.

4:19 p.m.: A locksmith reported a guy took off without paying from the Chevron station, 755 S. Tracy Blvd., after being let into his pickup with a “USM” logo on it.

5:24 p.m.: A caller said three or four “suspected gang members” wearing long white shirts were in some bushes at Huck Park, 501 Wagtail Drive, looking for something on the ground. The caller said a young guy earlier in the day appeared to bury something in the area where they searched. Later, the guys threw rocks at a vacant building and broke a window, the caller said.

8:20 p.m.: Video games and an Xbox 360 were stolen from a home on the 600 block of Regina Drive, a caller said. The burglar got in through a bedroom window.

8:34 p.m.: A woman at the Tracy Park Apartments, 2800 N. Tracy Blvd., reported three suspicious men huddled in a corner followed her to her door, and later followed her to her car when she walked out to the parking lot. They were gone when police arrived 29 minutes later.

9:48 p.m.: A woman on the 700 block of Oneil Court reported she bit her tongue after her husband pushed her because he was upset that “she dumped the whiskey down the drain.” She also said he punched a wall. Police arrested 40-year-old man.

This column includes a sample of items as reported in the Tracy Police Department dispatcher’s daily log. Additional information is based on reports from officers and other law enforcement agencies. To anonymously report information about a crime: Crime Stoppers, 831-6847.

Raise the bar. Do it for the future. Set an example for the next generation. Rise to the occasion. Give em something to talk about.

Yes, they did say green. I think it was green and plaid. Not a fan of orange though. ;)

thanks TCY1. I appreciate that.

Cabincar: Are you really believing the news? Every channel is biased these days and most are out of touch with "street" issues. Even the cops are.

100% with you on the pants thing though...

and I wouldn't wear plaid if it had red or blue in it...

go orange and green. maybe pink...

I heard on the news there there is only one safe color to wear these days.

"plaid"

I heard on the news there there is only one safe color to wear these days.

So if I see someone with their pants on the ground and their you-know-what sticking out, I'm going to stereotype.

Let's not get offended by that. I hope my children are smart enough to do the same.

TCY1:

really? are you that upset and bitter? does the word "bitching" offend you?

come on, can't we all get along?

You said what you had to, now let it go......

mommy-love you too babe, but you gotta chill with the music at 3am---we're too old for that now.

TCY1-lay off a bit. raising a child on your own is hard enough, let alone in these times. Give her a little credit.

I bet I am younger than you and can guarantee that I have more "real life" experiences than you do.

listen...we all have the same goal here. We just need to be smart about it. No need to bash each other.

now play nice!

SquakLikeaDuck, first, call me Witey. Secondly, please don't tell me what I think. 100% agree about the dress code. 100% agree with parents getting more invloved. 100% disagree on profiling all teenagers. 100% agree with the other stupid parent comment as well.

What parents are trying to pull kids out of the banging mold? Here's a hint... Its not the ones that are actually banging. Its the kids that want to fit in, that dress like bangers.

If one of my kids was in a gang, or started sporting colors, you best believe that if I can't fix the problem real quick, I am going to turn them in. that's right, I would turn them in.

If my efforts as a parent are clearly not working, I am going to do whatever it takes to get my kids ont eh right path. I don't want them doing the stupid things I did when I was young.

Now, for the parents of the kids that are banging and know they are banging. What are they doing about this? Ignoring it? Turning the other cheek? Maybe they used to be in a gang back in the day so they think its ok for this to happen?

Like I said, kids will be kids and dress with the fad of the times.

Beware of the colors.....that's your sign.

TCY1

You seem to have it all figured out. Why don't you get out there and do something about it? Instead of sitting behind your computer screen bitching!

mitwit, You think cuz everyone does something thats ok. Many parents are trying to pull them out of that mold of a banger. The schools should have a dress code and zero tolerance and no stupid here signs. Other stupid parents are giving the green light. If it walks like a duck it aint gonna soar like an eagle.

I agree with both mommy2ababyboy and TCY1 and let me state why.

First of all, I am a 33 year old father of 3, graduate from the school of hard knocks. During and after high school (went to all catholic schools in the bay) I hung out in the depths of East Oakland. I had a loud stereo, one of the loudest around, and let everyone know about it. In hindsight, probably not cool to blast it at 3am in residential areas-that is a respect issue. However, if I still had that stereo, you best believe that I would show it off.

I also dressed in baggy jeans and white t shirts and ball caps. Still do to some extent. But my clothes more or less fit. Not 4 sizes too big. My pants never hung below my ass and I wore a belt. in other words, when we had to run from the cops, we didn't have to hold up our drawers.

Does that mean that I was a gangbanger?

Now, after hearing what I had to say let me state this:

I have a very good management job where I dress very professionally. I am also as white as they come. I still wear baggy jeans on weekends and ball caps turned backwards (not sideways like an idiot), beanies and hoodies etc...

Does that make me a gang banger?

Its all about the colors. True bangers will have something on them (bandana, hat, shirt, shoelaces, cell phone cover etc...) to show that color. Wannabees wont.

People need to stop stereotyping a whole generation based on what they wear and what kind and how loud their music is and focus on the real issues at hand. I can tell a banger from a mile away, just as I can tell an alcoholic and a tweaker. Call it past experience. If you haven't lived the life, or been exposed to the situation, you can't just pass on judgement.

Besides, some of these kids dress like an idiot to fit in. I think all of us were teenagers at one time. How many of you DIDN'T try to fit in at one point in your life?

my 2 cents

Love, Peace and Chicken Grease ya'll

I don't know what's funnier;

the wannabe gangsters using BB guns, or the comments that are posted on here.

mommy2ababyboy, I somewhat agree with you. Just not the way you worded it. Every generation has it's styles, music and slang. Wearing baggy paints does not make me think they're a member of a gang in the same way I'm sure people from the past who were at the age I am now didn't think I was a doper or rock star because I had long hair when I was a teenager in the 70's. We dressed what was accepted by our peers.

As far as the loud music, I plead guilty to turning up the volume when a song I like comes on, I'll bet most of us do. The difference is I know the people around me at the red light don't have the same taste I do, and don't want to hear Led Zeppelin or The Doors as much as I do. So I show respect to them by having it loud enough for me to enjoy it, but not at the volume where others around me are having their rear view mirror vibrating to the beat.

The person who selfishly blast their music may think that makes them cool, but personally I think it makes them look like immature idiot starving for attention.

Pants on the groun'

"Sagging: wearing ones pants around the hips so that they sag down and bunch up around the ankles. Originally, this was a prison thing that signified that you were another prisoner's property, ie bitch. Punks were forced to wear their pants this way so it would be easier for their masters to pull their pants down and butt-f--- them. Somehow this became a 1990's fashion trend. I learned this from watching a TV special on prison life. The inmate who related the story was an elderly black gentleman who had been sentenced to life in prison and had been there for over fifty years. He marveled how such a mark of shame became a fashion statement."

Pants On The Ground lyrics

Pants on the ground

Pants on the ground

Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground

With the gold in your mouth

Hat turned sideways

Pants hit the ground

Call yourself a cool cat

Lookin' like a fool

Walkin' downtown with your pants on the ground

Get it up, hey!

Get your pants off the ground

Lookin' like a fool

Walkin' talkin' with your pants on the ground.

Get it up, hey!

Get your pants off the ground

Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground

(Repeat second verse)

-I am guessing her mom (or guardian) called this in. Did the 16 year old return home? If not, can it be considered as kidnapping? She is not a legal adult yet.

I doubt this was the standard BB gun of which I owned many as a kid back during the 1950s. If the window was completely penetrated the gun must've been powered by compressed carbon dioxide gas or have been a break-barrel compressed air gun. A steel BB will generally create circular impact sites but not penetrate glass. A lead .177 pellet at 1,000fps or higher velocity might do it. Years ago when I lived in Orange County,Ca a boy was killed in my neighborhood with a .22 lead pellet fired from a so-called 'BB gun'. I knew what guns including BB guns were capable of when I was ten years old in 1956. I had more brains back then than a lot of adults have today.
