The team consists of athletes ranging from ages 5 to 11. All athletes were awarded with championship jackets and medals and a banner for the gym.
“They have been working so hard. It finally paid off,” said coach Kayla Chaves. “They definitely picked the right competition to win.”
Athletic Perfection also brought home a second-place award in the Junior Small Level 2 division and third-place awards in the Senior Open Level 5 and the Junior Level 3 divisions. Videos of the team’s performances are posted on the gym’s Web site, www.athleticperfectioncheer.com.
Athletic Perfection will compete next at the University of the Pacific in Stockton on Feb. 28.
Classic boys successful in Rancho Cordova
The boys team from Classic Gymnastics of Tracy had a successful weekend at the High Tech Invitational in Rancho Cordova on Jan. 23 and 24. Each gymnast moved up in the placements since their previous competition two weeks ago.
In the Level 4 competition, gymnast Joshua Burdios, age 8, placed fourth on floor exercise, ninth on pommel horse, fifth on the still rings, third on the vault table, 10th on the parallel bars, sixth on the horizontal bar and seventh all-around.
Matthew Garay, 8, and also in Level 4, placed 11th on the floor, eight on the pommel horse, seventh on the rings, ninth on the vault table, 12th on the parallel bars, 12th on the horizontal bar and 12th all-around.
In the Level 5 competition, gymnast Cameron Higgins, 7, placed seventh on the floor, 11th on the pommel horse, ninth on the rings, fourth on the vault table, seventh on the parallel bars, third on the horizontal bar and eighth all-around. Elijah Sousa, age 10 and also Level 5, placed 10th on the floor, 12th on the pommel horse, eighth on the rings, fourth on the vault table, ninth on the parallel bars, 10th on the horizontal bar and 10th all-around.
Fireballs go for championship at BLD
The Tracy Futbol Club Fireballs under-12 girls soccer team is in first place in the winter indoor soccer league at Big League Dreams sports park in Manteca. The Fireballs, who are 6-2, with two forfeits from the same dates that they had Nor Cal Premier games, will play the league championship game today against the Manteca Pumas Gold, who they have already beat in league play. Other teams that the Fireballs have played include the Manteca Futbol Club Arsenal and Monarchs.
