Freiler School students will participate in a statewide attempt to set a new Guinness Book World Record for jumping rope simultaneously.

About 1,000 students will jump rope at Freiler at 9 a.m. Monday. The local students will join about 80,000 students around the state to set the new record.

The record is held by Australia, with 50,000 jumpers.
