Michael Gayler, 42, was taken to a holding cell at the Tracy police station and is expected to be booked in San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, a felony, police said.
Rafael Alvarez, 45, is expected to be charged with felony possession of a dangerous weapon following his arrest.
Tracy Police Sgt. Terry Miller said police this afternoon found about an ounce of methamphetamine in Gayler’s home, and Alvarez had a sap, a kind of club.
Miller said the arrests are not gang related and he found no evidence that the drugs were made in the house.
Police obtained a search warrant for the house as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Tuesday evening, several neighbors called police after hearing a gunshot from Gayler’s backyard. A woman at the house was arrested and cited on a suspected a drug violation.
Miller said Gayler did have hunting rifles and a shotgun in the home.
An ounce of meth could be worth up to $5,349 if sold by the gram, according to the Drug Enforcement Agency’s web site.
