I would like to oppose the possible return of Richard Pombo to Congress in his run for California’s 19th Congressional District. We all deserve better than former congressman Pombo — he is known to be unethical and self-serving, standing ready to cheat and deceive.
Before being ousted from Congress in 2006, Pombo:
• Was named one of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington’s 13 most corrupt members of Congress.
• Accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in political contributions from Big Oil, and then supported billions in tax breaks for the oil and gas industry.
• Proposed selling off 15 of America’s national parks.
• At the taxpayers’ expense, took an RV trip with his family to many of the national parks.
• Paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to his wife (dollars that were deposited into a joint account to which he had access) for consulting fees. Does she have any background that would qualify her as legitimate consultant?
At the time of his announcement, Pombo didn’t even live in California’s 19th congressional district, which he’s seeking to represent.
We need honest, hardworking politicians to represent us. What we don’t need are people like Richard Pombo and his family.

I think we are on different pages. I'm not in the orchard business these days, but now I know where I can get a lot of fertilizer. Thanks
Tearing down your house is not my idea of good times unless Ty Pennington shows up.
I have no idea how much you and your house are worth. But that's all I got. If you want to tear your house down I'd only give you one penny, but I'll throw in fruit tree, if you want.
The problem is you can purchase fruit overseas for less than the cost of fertilizer here. And that's no bull. Write Jerry a letter maybe he can help. Good luck!
Does that mean that all I'm only worth two cents? Or does that mean that's all these houses are worth?
On the houses you are right on,maybe they should tear them down so we can start farming the ground again.
I'd like to start the highest bid with my two cents, but you probably wouldn't like that.
I have already done my service running for Congress against Pombo. In the years 2002 and 2006 my window is now closed. Buy my house so I can have the necessary funds, and I might just run.
I have not taken contributions in the past, so if you buy my home that will not be considered as a donation. It will only take me about $150,000 to run in the primary. Then in the general, I can get big bucks from the corporations and churches.
I think it is hilarious that you are concerned about how much someone does or doesn't care. I don't really know if he cares or you care more. However, it should be pointed out that he was the Congressman in the 11th District.
Pombo already won in the 11th District.
Why don't you run in the 11th District if you care, and Pombo can run anywhere he cares?
There is no jurisdiction rules anymore. It just makes funny fodder for the blogs. Don't you know that Garamendi proved there are no bounds, when he ran outside his district for the 10th district you wrote about earlier?
I think that's just more Liberal smear tactics.
The 11th district goes right across Livermore. That is the only town really outside of the 11th. The 10th then starts in Walnut Creek, and goes north.
My statement was that the 11th distict would have been a better race for Pombo to run rather than go to the 19th district which was out of his jurisdiction.
If Pombo really cared about his old friends in the 11th, he should be running in the 11th. Garamendi and Pombo are both special interest candidates.
You are also are talking about Alameda County.
And just because they drew up the district lines as discontiguous numbers doesn't mean you can't run next door. Get a map?
CD-11 and CD-19 are BOTH in the Central Valley and have more in common than CD-10 which is not in the Central Valley, CA.
No more re-districting and jerry mandering for you.
Richard had a chance to run in the 10th district race, that Garmendi won. That district surrounds the 11th district, that Pombo was the congressman for about 4 terms. If he was the congressman for the 11th and was concerned for the people of the 11th he would have run in the 10th district. Now he is now running in the 19th for special interest lobbyist, miles from the his home bass.
These smear tactics you found on the Internet come as no surprise to me.
I would like to ask if you happened to take a look whose behind the Democrat's CREW website.
It is called the "Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington" also known as "CREW"...
“It’s no surprise that CREW, an organization run by a former Democratic Senate staffer, is trying to do anything possible to shift the light off the fact that ACORN has stood hand in hand with the Democratic Party for a long time as it misused taxpayer dollars,” DiGardo said."
Now you see how these things are fabricated?
VOTE THEM ALL OUT
VOTE FOR FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY IN 2010
It's our money!
CREW does point out one thing. Nancy Pelosi said on Nov 8, 2006, "The American people voted to restore integrity and honesty in Washington, D.C., and the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history". She said she would 'drain the swamp'.
In 2009, how many people in Congress were reprimanded or sanctioned? ZERO
Ethics are a thing of the past in DC. The system is broken. The earmark process and lobbyists all but guarantee the corruption will continue.
And then we get to the last point.
Didn't John Garamendi set a precedent, when he ran in the 10'th district. Not the 3rd district.
Is this even newsworthy anymore.
03 -> 10
11 -> 19
