This letter is in regards to Brian Williams’ article (Wednesday’s His Voice, "Getting to the core of Tracy’s unlicensed vendor issue").
The people of Tracy are concerned about the unlicensed venders because they pose a significant health risk to the residents of Tracy, especially children. I work in Tracy and see unlicensed venders peddling their food to children at elementary schools. I can’t believe Williams can say that illegal immigrants selling tamales and corn from an old, dirty ice chest is the same thing as parents selling food at a youth soccer bake sale or serving it at an office potluck.
The citizens of Tracy are concerned with the junk these peddlers are selling to our children, and you insinuate that we are racist? Such ignorance has become the American way. If you disagree with somebody, call him or her racist, intolerant, sexist and ignorant.
Wait, let me correct myself. That’s not the American way — it’s the liberal way.
By the way, selling food without a permit is a Tracy Municipal Code violation and a health code violation. It’s the law, not racism.
