A Tracy man accused last week of molesting a 4-year-old girl now faces added charges of rape.
Anthony Rory Cummings, 31, stands accused of a litany of felonies, including two for sex crimes with a child younger than 10, one for oral sex with a child, two for lewd acts on a child, one for rape by a foreign object and another for rape of a child younger than 14.
His bail was upped from $100,000 last week to $1 million. He is being held at the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
If convicted, Cummings will have to register as a sex offender and serve at least a decade in state prison, according to the county District Attorney’s Office.
Tracy police arrested the man last week on charges of having engaged in sex acts with a toddler. Detectives said Cummings was homeless and staying with a friend’s family when he allegedly raped their 4-year-old girl.
An updated criminal complaint filed earlier this week charges Cummings with having molested and raped the girl several times between July 2008 and Jan. 27 this year.
When the family found out, they evicted Cummings and called police, said detective Nate Cogburn, who found the man living with his mother in Sacramento in Section 8 housing.
Cummings’ arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 30 at the Manteca branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court.
