A woman called at 11:43 p.m. Sunday to say her husband caught a kid stealing a water cooler from the back of his truck on the 500 block of Cabana Court.
She said the husband chased the kid down, and police eventually detained two kids and found a third hiding under an SUV.
Tracy police responded to 480 calls for service between Sunday and Friday. The following is a sample of those reports:
Sunday:
12:22 a.m.: A couple of taggers jumped out of a car and ran from police after they were spotted spray painting graffiti in an alley at Clover Road and Tracy Boulevard. Police arrested one person and towed the car.
1:30 a.m.: A Ford Explorer followed a man who jumped out of a car and ran away after crashing into a Ford Contour at East Street and Emerson Avenue. Police caught up with the 21-year-old man near the bathrooms in Lincoln Park and arrested him on suspicion of drunken driving.
5:45 a.m.: A man reported he saw one of two guys in a fight knock down a woman at 10th Street and Roosevelt Avenue. They were gone when police arrived.
8:08 a.m.: A man said someone spray painted graffiti all over the speed trailer he asked to be put in front of his home on the 1800 block of Bessie Avenue.
9:21 a.m.: Police arrested a man after a woman on the 3400 block of Buthmann Avenue reported her daughter called and said her boyfriend was “hitting her and throwing her around.”
9:43 a.m.: A caller reported broken boards on the side of a home and the presence of an intruder in the backyard of a home on the 900 block of Taft Avenue.
11:23 a.m.: A caller on the 300 block of East 20th Street reported a 24-year-old stepson somehow got bank account information and withdrew cash.
12:45 p.m.: A city employee saw a group of kids smoking drugs and selling them between El Pescadero Park, 250 W. Kavanagh Ave., and Tracy Interfaith Ministries.
2:24 p.m.: A woman on the 1000 block of Roosevelt Avenue reported four neighbors busted out a window of a car and tried to break down her front door. Police told her to stay inside until an officer showed up, but she declined to prosecute.
2:45 p.m.: A thief swiped a bicycle at Trail 50, 650 E. Street, someone reported.
2:48 p.m.: Police received a report over the Internet of identification theft on the 2600 block of Monroe Street.
2:50 p.m.: Someone reported vandalism at the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road.
4:51 p.m.: A caller said someone swiped a neighbor’s bicycle on the 2600 block of Pyramid Drive.
5:02 a.m.: A man said he was robbed by two guys who were following him near Encanto and Whirlaway lanes. He lost a watch, but the robbery was interrupted by a passing car.
5:43 p.m.: A woman left her ATM card inside a machine at Save Mart, 875 S. Tracy Blvd., and someone stole $100 from her account, she said.
11:42 p.m.: A caller said about 50 people were in a fight outside El Tapatio, 572 W. 11th St.. When police got there, only a few people were outside, and an employee said the large group that started if was gone.
11:18 p.m.: A caller reported three or four men were in a fight on the 100 block of Eighth Street, but police said there was no fight, though one person guy off a porch.
Saturday:
12:04 a.m.: A man reported a possibly “gang related” fight at Rusty’s, 320 W. Grant Line Road, with a few guys beating someone on the ground.
1:01 a.m.: A woman said she left her garage door wide open and realized that her son’s bicycle, a red Mongoose, was taken from the 500 block of Summer Lane. Police found the suspects at Cabana and Majorca lanes, where some parts of the bike were recovered.
3:24 a.m.: Someone flagged down an officer to report vandalism at a gas station on the 2700 block of Tracy Boulevard.
9:10 a.m.: A woman on the 600 block of Tennis Lane said her husband found a lot of marijuana when he cleaned out the apartment of a tenant now in jail.
9:59 a.m.: A caller reported someone spray painted graffiti on a garage that faces an alley on the 500 block of East Sixth Street.
10:54 a.m.: A guy told police his brother caught a man trying to break into his brother’s window on the 900 block of West Ninth Street. The suspect, who lives a block away, punched his brother in the eye, and the caller said he might go over to the suspect’s house and punch him. Police told him to stay put.
11:37 a.m.: An employee from the Red Sea, 3200 Naglee Road, said an $800 credit card purchase from the previous night was fraudulent, but that the store recorded the transaction on camera and has paperwork to show investigators.
1:16 p.m.: A man on the 900 block of West Fourth Street said someone was using his credit card to buy stuff.
1:37 p.m.: Someone grabbed a ladder and tossed it over a fence at Consolidated Container, 75 W. Valpico Road, an employee said, then loaded it onto a pickup truck to steal it. Police said there no crime. A manager took it.
2:42 p.m.: A woman on the 200 block of Versailles Court said a vicious pit bull next door was trying to break through the fence and she was afraid to use her backyard.
4:22 p.m.: A woman said someone in a neighboring apartment threatened to shoot her and kill her because she complained about the neighbor on the 1600 block of Holly Drive.
4:30 p.m.: A caller reported gang graffiti on a sidewalk at Balboa Drive and Ranchero Way.
5:12 p.m.: Police arrested one man and cited another on suspicion of drug charges after a traffic stop at Ninth and A streets.
5:30 p.m.: Police arrested a man on the 200 block of La Monte Lane after a woman in an argument with a man called crying. A police dispatcher reported he hit her while she was on the phone.
6:20 p.m.: Neighborhood kids were using rocks as baseballs and hitting them with bats on the 2400 block of Alzira Court, a man said. The guy said the kids for years have used bats to swat rocks and have caused about $5,000 in damage to his car alone.
7:59 p.m.: A caller returned home from an out-of-town weekend trip to discover someone swiped a flat-bed trailer from the 900 block of Renown Drive.
10:30 p.m.: A guy threatened to go to a caller’s home and “blow his head off” on the 1400 block of Chester Drive. The guy had lived in Washington for awhile, but was now back in town.
11:07 p.m.: A drunken man called police to say people refused to let him inside his home on the 1300 block of Holly Drive. Police arrested the 29-year-old man on suspicion of public drunkenness.
Friday:
6:17 a.m.: A woman said her 49-year-old son was “going crazy” and trying to attack her in a home on the 100 block of East Grant Line Road. She said he was hallucinating but taking his medication, and the line was disconnected after a struggle for the phone. Police detained the man but made no arrests.
8:08 a.m.: Someone jumped a fence into the backyard of a home on the 500 block of Wagtail Drive that has been burglarized in the past, a caller said. It looked to be a teenage boy, who at one point dragged garbage cans to the front of the house so he could climb on the roof.
1:23 p.m.: Someone swiped a generator from a motor home at JT Storage, 2460 Toste Road, the man who owns the motor home reported. His insurance company put the loss at $4,000.
3:06 p.m.: A man said a guy checked out of a room at Extended Stay America, 2526 Pavilion Parkway, but left behind cocaine. The employee took it to his office, and gave police the guy’s name.
3:58 p.m.: A woman was detained on suspicion of shoplifting at Save Mart, 1950 W. 11th St.
4:02 p.m.: A woman said got into her home and stole two purses while she was working in the backyard of her place on the 1100 block of West Beverly Place. She told police she locked her front door, but called back a few minutes later sand said she found her purses. They fell behind a bed.
4:34 p.m.: Six or eight teenagers were smoking drugs in Veterans Park, 238 Glenhaven Drive, and had a case of beer sitting on a table, a caller reported. They were gone when police arrived.
4:46 p.m.: A stereo thief left blood on the console of a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder burglarized when it was parked behind Pizza Hut, 720 W. 11th St., a caller reported.
5:16 p.m.: A caller said three girls or young women in a black Chevy appeared to be smoking pot from a bong. They were gone when police arrived.
6:48 p.m.: A woman posing as someone named “Heather” from doctor Zarate’s office was trying to get Norco from Reich’s Pharmacy, 39 W. 10th St., a pharmacy employee said.
6:57 p.m.: Police arrested the mother of four children on suspicion of shoplifting at Sears, 3350 Naglee Road.
8:15 p.m.: A man and a boy who looked to be about 16 were hanging out in front a home on the 200 block of East Whittier Avenue, possibly selling drugs, a caller reported. They were overheard talking about buying “crystal meth.”
9:15 p.m.: Police arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving after pulling him over for allegedly running a stop sign at Grant Line Road and Parker Avenue.
10:09 p.m.: A caller said a teenage boy in a plaid shirt and blue jeans was spray painting graffiti on the off-ramp at Interstate 205 and Grant Line Road.
10:47 p.m.: A car hit a neighbor’s car and took off from the 2900 block of Ferndown Lane, a caller reported. A homeowner across the street from the caller knew the person who ran into the car, the caller said.
10:59 p.m.: Someone found a wallet in the parking lot of the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road, and turned it in at the police station
