A woman on the 2400 block of Dorset Lane called at 9:46 a.m. to report a man tried to open the front door and get inside her home while her son was home alone.

She said a guy in his 20s told her son he was from Fed Ex, but he wore no uniform and no delivery truck was in site.

She said the man pounded on the door and jiggled the door handle, and she asked for extra police patrols on the street.

The Tracy Police Department received 210 calls for service Thursday. The following is a sample of those calls. To read more, visit www.tracypress.com.

7:25 a.m.: A caller reported a car at Rodeo Way and Mount Diablo Avenue was burglarized.

11:40 a.m.: A woman reported two guys just left a car in front of her house on the 1900 block of Thelma Loop and drove off in a gray Dodge pickup with a “very loud exhaust.” The car was 2000 Lexus RX3 that turned out to be stolen from Fremont, police said, and the front end was wrecked. Police called in a tow truck.

11:57 a.m.: A man on the 1500 block of Holly Drive told police he saw a man in blue jeans and a sweatshirt with a hood pulled over his head jump down from a roof into someone’s backyard. Police said the man was part of a crew of gardeners.

2:29 p.m.: A caller reported an ice cream truck struck a child at Williams Middle school, 1600 Tennis Lane. Police said no truck hit a child, but there was an incident where an ice cream truck door was slammed on a kid’s hand, and it might have been intentional.

7ofusnomore: I don't know who got stabbed - and I don't know if they're alright. I'm assuming they are - if it's not in the paper!?

I just heard there was a stabbing and I've been checking the paper ever since, but haven't seen it.

Oh that is just plain sad and disgusting. Did the parents of the thief tell Tracy cops the name/address of the 'friend'? I don't have to be psychic to feel that I have already read the little thief's Book of Life. A long rap sheet and life in prison without parole.

Great to read that the police appear to be conveying the 'you're not welcome here' message to the hoodies. Keep it up!
