Competitive yoga

Bikram Yoga Stockton will host the seventh annual Northern California Regional Yoga Asana Championships from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Long Theater at University of the Pacific, 3601 Pacific Ave., in Stockton.

Competitors will perform seven yoga postures in three minutes and will be judged on technique, strength, flexibility and balance. The event also includes demonstrations by international yoga champions.

This is a qualifying event for the International Bishhnu Charan Ghosh Cup Championships, with the national-level competition to be in Los Angeles in February.

Admission is $10, $5 for children 12 and younger. The event will raise money for USA Yoga, which aims to make yoga an Olympic event.

Fastpitch tryouts

Tryouts for the 2010 California Odyssey 16-and-under fastpitch softball summer team will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and Jan. 10 at Sierra High School, 1700 Thomas St., in Manteca.

Kimball High track and field

Kimball High’s track and field team will have a student-parent meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Kimball High cafeteria. Coaches will cover conditioning information, important dates, team rules, transportation fees, and uniform ordering information. All students interested in joining the track and field team should attend this meeting.
