Workers at the V.B.R. Foundation Inc. Foster Family Agency made sure the children in their program had a Merry Christmas with the group’s annual toys and bike donation Wednesday at the center on 11th Street.

For the eighth year, the foster child agency — with some volunteer help — gave gifts and bikes to 60 children the agency works with from San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Sacramento, Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The children ranged from newborns to 19-year-olds.

Donations of toys, books, clothes and sleepwear came from students at St. Bernard’s, West High and from collection barrels in the community. Some of the bikes also came from NUMMI Motors plant in Fremont.

The gifts were distributed Wednesday at the center where children had a chance to meet Santa.
