EDITOR,

Can the government of this country really reform health care? I seriously doubt it.

Unless they want to construct a brand new HMO offering basic medical coverage for the average citizen at severely reduced rates, their “reform” will never satisfy those who really need the assistance.

The basic premise of every business in this country is based on free enterprise and greed. That’s G-R-E-E-D in the marketplace.

Unless insurance companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers and medical providers are inhibited from charging exorbitant fees for premiums, prescription drugs and everything from regular office visits to surgery, reform will never succeed.

Maybe if our government spent more time boosting the basic infrastructure of this country, helping new businesses to grow and creating new jobs, health care would be more easily attainable for the millions who need it.

Bob - I agree 100% - with the last paragraph! Your letter makes some incongruous statements, that government should help businesses grow but prevent health care related businesses from doing the same thing.

Maybe, the government could grant health care related businesses the same freedom and assistance, and increase CHOICE and COMPETITION in the health care business. It is what our great country was built on, and it brings prices down for everyone in the long run.

Choice and competition, Obama and the Democrats mantra.
