About 35 people are lined up so far for the Brighter Christmas’ “Jail and Bail” event, 9 a.m. today at Community Bank at the corner of 10th Street and Central Avenue.

People are thrown into a fake jail and have to make “bail” by raising money for the annual toy and food drive. Director Gene Birk said he’s got Tracy fire chief Chris Bosch, police chief Janet Theissen and city manager Leon Churchill ready to go, but more people can still sign up by showing up in the morning or calling the bank at 836-5111 and asking for the judge.

Last year, the fundraiser brought in about $18,000 for Brighter Christmas.
