Final call for decorating contest

The deadline for entries in this year’s Rotary Holiday Decorating Contest is rapidly approaching.

Entry forms must be in by 4 p.m. Thursday to the Tracy Press office, 145 W. 10th St. An entry form appears on Page 7 of today’s Press.

Judging in five categories will take place Friday and Saturday evenings. Winners will be announced in the Wednesday, Dec. 16, edition of the Press. This year, a new category, Neighborhood Group Displays, is included in the judging. Winners and runners-up in each category will receive prizes from the sponsoring Tracy Rotary Club.

Spaghetti dinner and VFW meeting

The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m. today at 1960 N. Tracy Blvd. A meeting will follow the dinner at 7 p.m.

The event is open to members, family, friends, and anyone wishing to join the post. The post is asking for a $5 donation for the meal.

Homeless dinner, fair planned

There will be a dinner to feed homeless people from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Tracy Community Center, 950 East St., where attendees can talk to people who work at agencies that help the needy.

Italian federation serves prime rib

The Italian Catholic Federation will have its monthly dinner starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church hall, 163 W. Eaton Ave.

Prime rib is on the menu, as are dessert and wine. Reservations should be made in advance.

Moose crab feed

The Tracy Moose Lodge will host an “all-you-can-eat” crab feed at 7 p.m. Friday at the lodge, 35 E Sixth St.

Tickets are $35 per person and are available at the lodge.

Breakfast with Santa

Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday for a breakfast with Santa at the Mount Oso Masonic Lodge, 1601 N. Tracy Blvd.

The Joaquin Chapter No. 348, Order of the Eastern Star, is sponsoring the breakfast. A $7 donation gets attendees pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice, milk, coffee and tea.

Club collects jackets, blankets

The Democratic Club of Greater Tracy has organized a jacket and blanket drive from 8 to noon Saturday at Tracy Interfaith Ministries, 311 W. Grant Line Road.

The club encourages people to donate new toys, food and hygiene products, too.

County Swinger’s winter dance

The County Swingers Dance Club will have its winter dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the San Joaquin River Club, 30000 Kasson Road.

Tickets are $7 for members and $9 for guests. There will be prizes and a drawing.

On-track safe teen driving

The Get Real Behind the Wheel committee will host an on-track safe teen driving event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Altamont Motorsports Park, 17001 Midway Road.

The pit area will be available for drivers training for teenagers ages 14 to 18 and is free to drive on. There will also be a barbecue for $3 per person and a gift card raffle, with tickets selling for $3 each or four for $10.

Winter ball for seniors

Tracy’s Department of Parks and Community Services will host a senior winter ball from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Lolly Hansen Senior Center, 375 E. Ninth St.

“In The Mood” will perform live ballroom music.

Historical museum celebrates holiday

Tracy Historical Museum will host a holiday event from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 16 at the museum, 1141 Adam St.

The evening will include food, choral music and an old buggy donated in memory of local farmer Cliff Koster. The genealogy department will also be open for tours.

Dance performance in Banta

Grace Christian Center and Illumination dance will perform “The Perfect Gift” at

9 and 11 a.m. Dec. 20 at Banta School, 22345 El Rancho Road.

The performance is a modern interpretation of the story of Christmas. Admission is free.

Yoga studio sponsors food, toy drive

Flow Yoga Studio is hosting a canned food and toy drive. The toy drive will end Dec. 23, but the food drive will continue until Dec. 30. Donations can be dropped off at the studio, 3602 Mars Way.

The toy drive will benefit Brighter Christmas, while the canned food will go to Tracy Interfaith Ministries. Anyone who donates either of the items will receive a free yoga class.

Goods needed for Tracy Interfaith

Tracy Interfaith Ministries has a need for towels, sheets, blankets, heaters, warm clothing, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, small appliances and other household items.

Tracy Interfaith helps out needy people in Tracy. Donated goods can be delivered to 311 W. Grant Line Road between

10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome.

Questions sought for candidates

Organizers of a political forum for congressional candidates, hosted by the South San Joaquin Republicans, are asking attendees to submit questions that might be posed.

The forum will take place Jan. 11 at Crossroads Grace Community Church, 1505 Moffat Blvd.

Five candidates for are expected to take part in the forum, and a big crowd is expected. Questions can be submitted via e-mail at mantecarepublicans@yahoo.com or by calling Frank Aquila, 825-0123.
