Kimball High freshman Michaela Loomis finished in 80th place out of 188 runners at the CIF Division IV cross country state championship meet Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Loomis ran the 5K course in 20 minutes, 26 seconds, which beats her best previous time in competition, a 20:38 finished at the Tri-City Athletic League meet Oct. 31.

The top time at the state meet in Division IV was 17:59, run by Camille Chapus of Harvard-Westlake High of North Hollywood. The Harvard-Westlake team also took first place in the girls Division IV competition, with an average time of 19:08 among its top five runners.

Tracy wrestler finishes first at Tokay meet

Tracy High entered 17 wrestlers in the Tokay Novice Tournament on Nov. 25.

Coach Darryl Rond said it was the first formal competition for all 17 grapplers, 12 of whom won their first matches after just two weeks of training.

Taking first place for Tracy in the 145-pound class was Danny Hutchinson, who won three matches by pin.

Second-place finishers for the school were Scotty White and Justin Woo, who each went 2-1.

Tyler Hoffman, who went 2-1, and Albert Landeros and Michael Munoz, who each went 3-1, all placed third in their divisions.

Travis Couch, Justin Green and Zack Koster each went 2-2 to claim fourth-place awards, and Jacob Koster and Chris Salinas went 2-2 and finished fifth.
