Millennium soccer, Tracy volleyball players earn all-league honors

All-league selections have been announced for two more local teams, with further announcements the pending completion of seasons by all of the teams in their respective leagues.

Millennium High soccer

Harvest Christian League first-team selections from the Millennium High soccer team were Oscar Torres, Steven Pina and Hugo Esquivel. Second-team players were Marcus Matta, Daniel Yanez and Jose Rubio.

Millennium finished in first place in the HCL, with a league record of 7-0-3. The Falcons reached the semifinals of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII playoffs. They were eliminated with a 5-1 loss to Tioga, which went on to become the section champion with a 3-2 win Nov. 14 over Elliot Christian.

Tracy High volleyball

Tracy High senior Emily Barwig was named to the San Joaquin Athletic Association first team by the league’s volleyball coaches. Second-team selections were senior Erika Gasior and junior Lynsie Zellmer, and Briana Aldridge and Stephanie Silver received honorable mentions.

Tracy High ended up in fifth place for the season, with a league record of 2-8. Lincoln and Lodi shared first place with 9-1 records. Both went to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs, as did third-place Chavez. All were eliminated in the first round.

The league MVP was Lauren Jones of Lincoln.
