This week’s Remember When “mystery photo” shows a sports car driver being interviewed after a race in 1959 in the Tracy area. Who was the driver, what was the race and where was it run? For extra points, who sponsored the race?

It took some doing, but the Tracy High students in last week’s Remember When “mystery photo” have been identified. Top row, left to right: Mary Ellen Fairbanks, Kathy Dengate, Pat Anastasio, Flora Haynes and Virginia Guadagni. Bottom row, left to right: Jo Ann Steinmetz, Konnie Wells and Anna Lee Edwards. The consensus is that the photo was taken in 1957 in the Tracy High senior court. Jo Ann Steinmetz Wubben believes those in the photo were officers of the school’s Safety Council. Willie McGuire, living “north of the border” in Oregon, enlisted a number of former students of that era to pinpoint names of those in the photo.
