Kimball freshmen shut out Cristopher with big runs; sophomores fall

Kimball High’s freshmen, 4-3-1, won their home game against Christopher High of Gilroy, 35-0, on Friday at Steve Lopez Stadium.

Head coach Jerrod Teyshak said his team came out a bit sloppy at first, but it soon outhit Christopher and made big runs to take control.

Kimball scored first on Dario Valadez’s 65-yard run in the first quarter.

Evan Owens caught a screen pass from Austin Griffith in the second quarter for a 45-yard touchdown, and Griffith ran in the 2-point conversion to make it 14-0 at the half.

On the opening drive of the second half, Owens made a 55-yard touchdown run, and Griffith scored in the third on a 25-yard run.

The Jaguars scored in the fourth quarter on Skyler St. Onge’s 15-yard run. Kicker Trae James went 3-for-4 on point-after kicks.

Sophomores: Christopher 27, Kimball 20

The Kimball High sophomores are now 1-8 on the season after a Friday night loss against Christopher High of Gilroy.
