City names top employee

Budget manager Allan Borwick has been named Tracy’s Employee of the Month for October.

Borwick, a native of San Francisco, has been the city’s budget manager for 21 years. Executive assistant Linda Dasse said Borwick has been instrumental in making sure everything runs smoothly as Tracy transitions to new accounting software.

Borwick has a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of California, Los Angeles, a master’s in public administration from California State University, Fullerton, and a master’s in urban planning from San Jose State University.

In his spare time, Borwick enjoys traveling; he has been to every state save Alaska.

Councilman honored by county center

San Joaquin County’s Family Resource and Referral Center has selected Tracy City Councilman Steve Abercrombie as a recipient of its Action on Behalf of Children Award.

Abercrombie earned the award for his work as a public employee, mainly for his efforts with the D.A.R.E. program, Brighter Christmas, Tracy Interfaith Ministries, Tracy Boys and Girls Clubs and McHenry House Family Shelter. The award recognizes those who go above and beyond their duties for the sake of children.

Abercrombie will accept the award Nov. 5 at the 22nd annual ABC Awards dinner at Elkhorn Country Club in Stockton.
