STOCKTON — A couple of late Edison High turnovers helped West High’s sophomore football team keep the host Vikings at bay in a 28-15 victory tonight.

Up 22-7 midway through the fourth quarter, defensive back Darren Sewak intercepted a Rodel Igarta pass in the end zone, quelling an Edison drive that went deep into Wolf Pack (3-4 overall, 1-1 Tri-City Athletic League) territory. On the next drive, defensive lineman Tristan Romo recovered a fumble on the Viking 30-yard line.

West ended that possession with a short touchdown dive from running back Patrick Thompson, making it 28-7.

With about three minutes left in the game, Edison (4-2, 1-1) got on the board one more time with an Igarta touchdown pass to Eric Moore.

“We didn’t play our best, but it was good enough to win,” Wolf Pack coach Steve Anastacio said. “We’ll just keep playing and hopefully make less mistakes next week.”
