Your Voice: Try this health care bill for size

EDITOR,

Here is a health care proposal this old man conservative could support:

• Slam the bill full of lefty dreams come true: single-payer system, coverage for illegal immigrants, coverage for abortions, employer sanctions, penalties for seeking treatment outside the system and any other goody that will make Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Harry Reid, Rep. Frank Barney and President Obama scream hallelujah.

• The bill is to be a pilot program for three years.

• Mandatory participation will be required of every registered Democrat as of Jan. 1, 2010.

• Everyone else would have to opt in if they wanted to participate in this pilot program.

All the above would allow the American people to view in stark contrast the overwhelming efficiency, compassion, service and cost savings of the government system as it competes side by side with the current system. After the three-year pilot program, there would be ample evidence as to what road to take next.

Competition is what you lefties are so infatuated with when it comes to health care reform. And only health care reform.

What say you? Step up, step out and lead! Show us the way as you lead with your feet, legs, arms, back, hips, shoulders and any other parts of the temple of your spirit that might need attention during those three years. What an example you would truly be for the all of America!

This is health care reform I would love to champion! And boy, would it ever be bipartisan. I suspect the minority party would vote overwhelmingly in support. Just what we are told the party in power would like — a bipartisan bill.

Do it!

Ohoh. HReed came up with a stinker? Did you detect it? All fifty states can opt-out.

I tell you the dems sure know how to compromise.

Someone tell me why the current administration wasted an entire year on this.

The economy. Let's get our priorities straight.

The Democrats who run our Congress are making the same mistake the Democrats made during the Clinton years. Not inviting the Republican ideas to the White House didn't work then and it wont work now. What your seeing is a bunch of bumbling fools who can't even support their own proposals.

Did you know that people with disabilities on medicare were told they could not leave their homes without the risk of losing their medicare benefits?

Sara Palin wasn't far from the truth and that's why it hurts dem to hear it.

Nica730 says:

"It amazes me how many people remain so uninformed about the health care debate, yet continue to spew misinformation and obvious, nonsensical lies in an effort to get others to support their position."

Way to be the stereotypical hypocrite Democrat.

"Use some common sense and get informed with the facts before you start repeating information from spurious e-mails and news channel sound bites!"

That's actually great advice. Maybe you Democrats should follow it sometime.

It amazes me how many people remain so uninformed about the health care debate, yet continue to spew misinformation and obvious, nonsensical lies in an effort to get others to support their position. If the insurance companies were ever going to do the right thing, they would have done it already! Use some common sense and get informed with the facts before you start repeating information from spurious e-mails and news channel sound bites!

At which point, presumedly after the three year testing period.

*You could keep the insurance you have.

*Sign-on with a single payer policy.

*Participate within a public option.

*Return to unregulatrd health care insurance conglomerates who deny treatment based on previously unspecified conditions...
