LAURENCE BOUTREUX | CONAKRY, GUINEA - Oct 05 2009 14:09
Women caught up in a massacre of opposition in Guinea alleged on Monday they had been raped by soldiers behind the bloodbath that the United Nations says left more than 150 people dead.
A week after the carnage at a stadium in the capital Conakry, human rights activists said they had collated testimony from about 30 women who said they had been raped.
Two of them came forward to detail the allegations first-hand to reporters as Blaise Compaore, the President of Burkina Faso, touched down in Guinea on a one-day mission to mediate between the ruling junta and the opposition.
Compaore, who was met by Guinea's junta leader Captain Moussa Dadis Camara, was asked by the Economic Community of West African States to hold talks with government leaders as well as opposition figures.
Camara has tried to distance himself from the September 28 crackdown, when troops opened fire on thousands of opposition activists protesting against the prospect of him standing in presidential elections set for January 31.
The junta says 56 civilians were killed but the UN has put the toll at more than 150, while the Guinean Human Rights Organisation alleges at least 157 died and 1 253 were wounded in the crackdown.
"I'm 57 and they stripped me naked!" said one woman, her face still swollen a week later, as she showed off her bruised arms and buttocks.
"I saw soldiers putting their rifles into womens' private parts while they were hitting me," she added.
Thierno Maadjou Sow, head of the Guinean Human Rights Organisation, said it was setting up an association for women who had been raped so they could take legal action.

And where was the UN when Iran and Korea tested their missles missles? Eating porridge and drinking a pint?
And finally, where was the UN when that person from Africa had to escape with their's and thier sister's lives and their small family fortune only to find your email and request to deposit money in your bank account?
Anybody call Interpol about the piracy in China, yet?

In the darkness of the night, only occasionally relieved by glimpses of Nirvana as seen through other people's windows, wallowing in a morass of self-despair made only more painful by the knowledge that all I am is of my own making ...
When everything around me, even the kitchen ceiling, has collapsed and crumbled without warning. And I am left, standing alive and well, looking up and wondering why and wherefore.
At a time like this, which exists maybe only for me, but is nonetheless real, if I can communicate, and in the telling and the bearing of my soul anything is gained, even though the words which I use are pretentious and make you cringe with embarrassment, let me remind you of the pilgrim who asked for an audience with the Dalai Lama.
He was told he must first spend five years in contemplation. After the five years, he was ushered into the Dalai Lama's presence, who said, 'Well, my son, what do you wish to know?' So the pilgrim said, 'I wish to know the meaning of life, father.'
And the Dalai Lama smiled and said, 'Well my son, life is like a beanstalk, isn't it?'
Enough is enough.
I've setup a new e-mail address to begin policing Tracy's racists that post comments on these forums, and to begin to proactively boycott the businesses they work for.
If you know the real name and home address of tinfoil, please send it to
policetracysracists@yahoo.com
and I'll identify where the person works and launch a boycott of that business.
I'm also setting a web site that will begin to post these remarks, aliases, and full names and addresses of those that post these racist remarks on these forums.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LMAO YOUR A COMPLETE JOKE. FREEDOM OF SPEECH YOU IDOIT. IF YOU CAN HANG W/ ANYONES COMMENTS HERE. GO BURY YOUR HEAD IN THE DIRT. GET A GRIP. OR DONT READ WHAT WE AS A COMMUNITY HAVE TO SAY!!! LOL....
CN
Am sure you know I was speaking of ones who corrupt, not the ones who earned it the honest way.
Thanks for the humor. :)
Are we excluding this to only American History?
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough, recent history as evidenced in news/media/congressional investigations.
Examples would be... Madoff, Haliburton, Wall Street executives, CEO's walking off with fat bonuses. These people are movers and shakers of this country. These people profit from the war.
We couldn't do anything about what happened in the past, but being aware and take actions/voice could help shape the future? No?
CN
Even benign ones are dangerous, Jim Baker, who moved the country on televised ministry, took millons... Madoff.. similar bracket.
Lobbyists, special interest groups, and so on.. they have no bearings in the direction of the country or support any wars?
Although I don't always agree with TinMan, I think your're right on your advice. I do recall seeing someone pull that trick using the whithouse website though and unfortunately the current administration hasn't fired her for doing that stint.
Enough is enough."
Your treading in thin ice. I'd be especially careful posting peoples names and phone no. on your new web site. If something happens to these folks you could be considered a prime suspect.
Someone accused me of being racist. I read my posts over and over and in my opinion I never said a racist remark. Sometimes it can be blatant but if it is not for sure I would hold off on posting. I hope you don't mind the advice. Good Luck.

Why erase it. I just pointed out that Hispanics are not the only race to commit crimes.
America is a young country. What about Osama, Mussolini. Sorry about the spelling. German, Italian dictators, Russian. Africa. Mexican Mafia.
Can you please remove these racist anti-hispanic comments from your forums.
Pretty revealing, look at the history and you will find it is mostly the whites in power that would determine the fate of the economy, war, peace, and so on.
Ignorant white person, here. CN
Another lovely example of today's young, male,Latino culture. Dreamer's headed straight for prison.
Good one Tinfoil, but you and I know that isn't the case. Most of us Latinos are not criminals.

A caller from the Valero gas station in Mossdale called at 3:46 a.m. Thursday to ask police in Tracy to watch out for a guy who “fired off a round” after an argument with a clerk.
