EDITOR,

Your last Town Crier article (“The strange state of monogamy,” Wednesday’s Tracy Press) states the fact that there are several options to a monogamous life.

And the writer cites examples of hypocrisy among those of us who prefer the “one man, one wife” lifestyle.

Finally she asks, “Is monogamy dead?”

My wife of 52 years frequently tells me that I “miss a lot,” so maybe I missed the memo on monogamy.

I have 46 aunts and uncles, who also chose monogamy. My six siblings have one wife or husband. Were they all sinners? Sure. But if they cheated, I never heard about it.

Maybe my family is not average, but I believe that a huge majority of Americans, Democrats, Republicans and independents, not only live in but enjoy a monogamous relationship.

I don’t, personally, know many who are enjoying an alternate lifestyle, but I do miss a lot!

Monogamously challenged are you...? Try Mormonism and polygamy. Its the foundation of that religion practiced by its founders Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. The practice was ended to enable Utah to achieve US statehood; else they would still be practicing that behavior today
