Helping the community can be as simple as eating a Tootsie Roll.

This month, the Knights of Columbus Tracy Council will give out Tootsie Rolls to raise money for groups that help children and adults with special needs. The fundraiser will take place the first two weekends in October.

Volunteers will distribute Tootsie Rolls to people who want to donate to the cause or not. The organizations that will benefit are Tracy Boys and Girls Clubs Challenge Program, the Heartland Stables Horse Riding Therapy Program and Friends of Tracy Special Olympics.

Candy-wielding volunteers will set up at multiple locations at grocery and retail outlets all around Tracy, and the Knights are looking for helpers young or old. They ask that volunteers give up to two hours of their time to pass out Tootsie Rolls and collect donations from the community.
